A while ago, I wrote up a possible way the Quarian Question could go down in ME3. Basically, if you go Pro-Peace, you convince a majority of the admirals; at a minimum, Raan, Koris, and whoever is the replacement for Pops. You can pull an Upper Left Blue/Lower Left Red on Gerrel. However... Xen refuses to make peace with the geth. 'would you make a peace accord with your omnitool or your shoulder pad?' She skulks off.
Later, you learn that she has flown off and apparently has managed to finish Rael's work and means to put it to use. You take off after her. Koris insists to come to try to talk her down, and so does Gerrel if you convinced him. Once you get to Xen, she won't back down no matter what... the only way to thwart her is to kill her. Several options; obviously, if Legion is there, you have to talk them down from shooting because that'd just screw EVERYTHING up with the peace process. She taunts you with "You won't shoot me". At that point, you can Renegade Interrupt and do it yourself... or not. After that, if only Koris is there, he shoots. If Gerrel is there... he shoots instead of Koris, much to the surprise of everyone.
If Gerrel is convinced and shoots, he very nearly retires on the spot because he has the blood of a fellow Admiral on his hands, but can be convinced to stay on; the Quarians need an admiral skilled in war for the looming Reaper threat, and he's the resident grizzled war dog on the admiralty board.
If you're pro-War, switch a few names around; Koris takes off in a last-ditch effort to warn the Geth, Legion turns their guns on you and you may end up dropping them on the spot (if present, if not, you better have some really freaking high Paragon/Renegade to convince them when you get back... basically kinda like Shale and the Anvil of The Void).
The one to convince this time is Admiral Raan, who becomes the surprise shooter, with Xen being the one who does it if Raan isn't present and you don't Interrupt.
