Even space-racist Pressley couldn't hate Tali for long.

Anyone else here still mourning the loss of Pressley?

Yes, I liked Pressley.

That opening scene always hurts. Especially later when you can find his datapad and he talks about Tali.

Where is this located? I don't recall reading it.

Normandy Crash Site.

Again, let's use a real world example. American history.

It's like the Confederacy. Yes, most of the people behind it are actually reasonable people with great ideals. Ideals I support. More power to the states. Less power to the federal government. Free trade. Ect.

But then you have the people who abuse that and use it as an excuse to promote slavery. Terra Firma's rascists.

Then you have the REALLY bad people, the KKK, to which Cerberus is an analogue.

Even the leaders translate. Saracino and General Lee, for example. Both upstanding people who had some good ideas. Unfortunately, their talents and gifts are wasted on people who don't understand them.

Yes. The Confederacy did have some brilliant ideals. Ones I hold very dear to my heart, and I don't say that about many things. But at the end of the day, I can't condone the price I'd have to pay to support them. Same with Terra Firma. Stronger humanity? HELL YES. But not at the price of the people I love being spit on, their people being looked at with mistrust, and the spread of hate and bigotry against them. I'll find a better way.

Who's left to defend humanity in your version of the galaxy?

Shepard can't do it alone, forever.

Why do humanity's interests require a band of human racists to defend them in yours?

I was also curious about Admiral Mikhailovich's outrage over turians and krogan on the Normandy but not a quarian. They're thieves and vagrants, right? And one is on the most advance warship and he doesn't rear his head?

Knowing Tali, she probably hid so as to not compromise Shepard's position as Captain.

By the time he got down to Engineering, she could have found plenty of places to hide out.

I guess Terra Firma are lot like Star Trek's Terra Prime. ie: all aliens have to leave this system by sundown, or we start shootin'

Engineer Adams could have probably hid Tali somewhere. Or he was just too blinded with rage about Garrus and Wrex that he didn't notice her.

Exactly this.

Even though I was never a huge fan of the guy, it was uncomfortable watching him die.
He was still my crew.

The datapad was just salt in the wound.

That's also where I always plant the statue. It's my way of honoring that people can change.

If Shepard does everything right?

He won't have to.

Sometimes... all it takes is one man.

Look at Jesus. Or MLK. Or Ghandi. All great men, religious connotations aside, who promoted great things that have had a lasting effect on the world. Sure, there is some negative mixed in there, but there's a lot of good too. It's a start.

I don't have many heroes. Almost none. I have no respect for the majority of people I've met, known, or have heard about. There are exceptions. MLK is one. Without some of the work he did, and the support of those who followed him, I'd have been deprived my best friend through childhood. I'd have been deprived of the girl I asked to prom.

That's what Shepard can be. The person that starts the turnabout. So that one day, maybe quarians won't be looked at with so much mistrust, and that human working the salvage team might hire that quarian on pilgrimage, and maybe they'll be friends, as opposed to telling her humans don't want quarians working there.

There is always a better way. It may be rough, and it may not be easy, but in the end... it can be worth it, for someone out there. Don't you think that's something worthwhile? If not in your game, then in the real world?

"That's not an Alliance regulation suit!"

"It's a prototype engineering model!"

"Oh, Ok. But it's wasting money."

I don't remember them threatening violence and they're not led by Robocop either.

We always plant the statue at the Mako. We lost a good friend that day.

Humans have a particular beef with Turians, as a cause of the First Contact War. And there are more Krogan running around in the galaxy than there are Quarians. And Krogan are naturally violent.

But that drive core.

And Ash doesn't refer to her directly, either. She alludes to her with something like "We can't let them poke around the vital systems...weapons....engines".

I guess Tali would need a motive that they couldn't find.

Well see  first and foremost  we take the  "Shephard is a leader"  Statement and put it actually work.   We make our own multi-species origination to defend the galaxy.   Shephards takes over Cerberus  starts a massive restructuring over the origination.   Like I told  T.I.M at the end of ME 2 " Get in line or get the frak out of my way*

T.I.M is smart man and its time to put those resources to good use.

They are not racist.  Humanity requires a defense because the various alien species have, as seen, acted in their best interest first.  The turians, for example, have broken sentient races over the knee by utilizing brutal tactics in order to force submission.

That's not to say, however, that I expect such a drastic defense to be neccessary.  Earth must stand firm against alien influences, "politically, socially, and in the worst case, militarily".   We cannot forget Shanxi.

I'm sticking to my explanation of her and the admiral having a quick conversation, ending with Tali saying "see you later:wub:" and his cold heart was melted for just long enough to let her name slip in his list of complaints.

*facepalm*

Spouting tired ideology... the universal response to hard questions.

PS: "They are not racist" and "Standing firm against alien influences politicallly social and in the worst case militarily" are contradictory.

I have no real problem with peace.  I support integration of foreign ideas and ideals.  But it would be naive to believe that a defense isn't necessary.   Great leaders, for example, are often helped along by the times they inhabit.  There is a reason it took India so long to break its colonial collar; because until the 1940s, Britain wanted to keep them.  Ghandi's timing was just lucky.  He gave a face to the movement (and if anyone saw tonight's Frankenhole on AS.... XD) at just the right time.

But we cannot stand idly as the machinations of others act to harm us.  We cannot believe that these machinations don't exist.

That's okay.

That money Shepard one is going to the "Tal's Ornemantal Quarian Suit Decorations" fund. B)
