An "inkling" is hardly conclusive.

What rituals do they have? What's involved in said rituals? Do they only revere their own ancestors? Do they even have sufficient records from after the Morning War to even track geneologies?

I have this theory that quarian geneology is in pretty good shape.  They probably keep track pretty carefully, given the tiny (relatively) gene pool.

Obviously, if the thread is constantly going off-topic it means there's nothing more to discuss about the topic.

It's been happening since the beginning of 2.0. You guys just repeat the same things over, and over, and over.

Just a note, even if she is religious, it likely wouldn't be that similar to anything that we see in people like Ashley, nor would it be anything that comparable to Earth religions.  The quarians saying a prayer before the hearing acknowledging their ancestors could be a form of their religion.

I was turned off by what Ashley said.

I thought it was one of the more interesting character traits given to Ashley, regardless of my thoughts on the subject.

Agreed. Just made her less romance material for me personally. I mean I've heard people make the same argument...and I just roll my eyes.

Her story of her sister punching her boyfriend wasn't doing anything to make her more interesting one way or the other.

It was one of the reasons why I thought she was more friendship material than Kaidan.

Without knowing what rituals are involved, we can't comment if Tali is religious.

If there are no rituals involved, then it can hardly be called a religion from the perspective we are discussing it. Thane's or Ashley's, for example.

If anything it made me what to meet her sister.

A lot of things start off with a religious formality.  It doesn't indicate worship.

Which is why I said "could," quarian practices in general also don't mean much for the individual, since we can assume that they aren't a theocratic people.  Just saying that paying homage to ancestors and honoring them could be their religion, and we wouldn't really equate that with Ashley as religious.

Tali saying Dat everything would be awesome

From the perspective we are discussing it? The codex entry was more of comment on topic than anything else specifically. Religions don't necessarily need rituals.

Wrong.  Always a new take.  Always new art, new fiction.

Off-topicness is derived from a feeling of comfort with whom is in the room.  You do not see new people coming in and posting off-topic stuff, unless they are trolls.

Off-topicness comes with a successful community, a self-sufficent fanbase.  We can only work to minimize it.

There's a point at which religion and science become the same thing. There's the mechanical operation of the universe - this is science - then there is the significance sentient beings attach to it - this is spirituality and conscious observation - . At the subatomic level, the two begin to appear more conjoined than had previously been anticipated. This only hints at the exciting possibilities of future research and discovery.

Agree.  Ashley went so far as to ask what Shepard though.  It doesn't seem to be that big a part of Tali's character that she'd need to know what Shep thought about it.

Clan Zorah for off-topic.
Anyway I don't actually think we've discussed everything we can. I hardly think that this particular topic - Tali's religion or lackthereof, has been repeated as much as a lot of other topics.

I was under the impression we were using the known religious crewmembers as a base.

My mistake.

The Quarian genepool reminds me of Vault 101's genepool in Fallout 3. Every person alive in Vault 101 is IN Vault 101. Just like how every Quarian alive came from the Flotilla. Every Quarian left in the galaxy can be traced back to the migrant fleet.  What Im trying to say is..The humans locked inside Vault 101 are all related to each other in some way...Can the same be said for the Quarians?

Yes.  To draw our attention to it in a disapproving manner.  That should do the trick.

A surprisingly optimistic take.  I also believe in the regenerative power of discussion, particularly related to the creation of fan-works.

Mostly, I was turned off by her "How can you look at the galaxy and not believe in something?" comment. Well, gee, thanks, Ashley.
