Resettlement should be a time for even greater engagement with the rest of the galaxy. The quarians contracting in on themselves would be a bad thing.
I assume that the ships of the Flotilla that are in the best shape will become the new trading fleet. The Liveships will probably end up being space stations around Rannoch.
Yeah...humans could do the heavy work, Rachni could help with reconstruction, Asari, Turians, and Salarians can go stick their thumbs up their asses...
I'm not impressed with the big 3. Their politics doom everyone else.

In my opinion the pilgrimage is related to the momadic lifestyle of the Quarians: every one of them must be able to repair a ship or to survive in an mostly hostile enviroment. But when they got there homeworld back i think this isnt needed anymore. There life becomes more stable. For me it just doesnt make sense to send a kid to the galaxy to gain ressources or trade partners when you can send a team that is specified on collecting ressources. Also pilgrimage is a great risk. Slave traders, Pirates, getting arrested because off some bastard of Volus just to mention a few. Is it worth that risk?

With the pilgrimage, you can continue gathering resources for the race. Why stop after getting the world back? You'd just isolate yourself.
Great excuse to escape your family too.

As for the current discussion, I personally support keeping the pilgrimage, it's worked out fine for a while now.
They'd still need resources in order to support the growing infrastructure of Rannoch, it's a great way to get to know the universe, become self-sufficient and an amazing first-hand learning experience.

It didnt mean to isolate. Still you have to trade and so. But why send a kid when you can send a diplomat. Why sent a kid when you can send a scientist and so on. Pilgrimage is not the only way too stay in contact with other races. No other culture in the ME univerese gatheres ressources by sending people in the galaxy wich are not through puberty yet. And I just dont think its efficient anymore once they have a homeworld.

But it's The Commander Shepard. He probably won't chance the views of the people like Kor Tun, but it must have some kind of impact on the Galaxy's opinion on Quarians.Mobius_118 wrote...
After all that, I still bet Quarians will still be viewed with suspicion...sadly. The Tali dalliance might help the Quarians with accepting aliens, but might not work with aliens accepting Quarians.

Its worth noting that stopping the pilgrimages wouldn't necessarily lead to isoaltion. All races have a huge majority of their people living on their homeworld. The difference between quarians and other races is that all quarians (barring the few that desert on pilgrimage,) return to the flotilla once their pilgrimages are over. That would likely change after time living on Rannoch, and a larger population of quarians would decide on lives around the galaxy, since it won't be a social obligation to return.
I see the pilgrimage eventually dying out personally. It will likely stay as a cultural thing for a while, but as it won't be as necessary, I see it transforming into a more optional journey, maybe even something completely different where quarians go out partying for a few weeks to celebrate graduating from quarian college
