I'd rather the quarians be a bit smarter about their colonization attempts. The whole reason why I want them to colonize is because I want them to build a stronger civilization, a strong infrastructure. Not so easy when you have to fight the environment even more because it didn't suit your needs.

I agree, but that's just the best example of what the council recently thinks of the quarians, and its not good.

Because of the reaction to humans, I'm not so inclined to think it was a huge reluctance on the Council's part to allow for another Council seat. It would appear the driving force for a Council seat, leaving dirty politics out of the equation for a bit, is that any race that joins is capable of taking care of not only themselves but the needs of the rest of the Citadel races should that need arise. There's a news report you can hear in ME2 where the Alliance appeals for more aid in the colonial abductions and the Council's response was that their being a Council member meant they could handle their own affairs.

Anyway, I do think the extensive use of synthetics by the quarians made the Council nervous. Apparently, the laws against AIs existed before the geth situation. Some event in the past made the Council nervous about synthetics.

The reaction to the humans was for the council to do everything in their power to slow them down before a huge catalyst (losing enough army to the point that they couldn't protect themselves,) forced their hands.  Without that catalyst, the humans still wouldn't have a seat on the council, and the council would probably be just fine with getting rid of the trouble makers in any possible way.

As a galaxy wide civilization of billions, its hard to see how the quarians wouldn't be able to handle their own affairs and the other Citadel races.

Which i could understand, if my PC just up and asked me if it had a soul i would be like WTF too.

I imagine my reaction would definitely follow along these lines.

Probably depends on how you view the quarians. As a spacefaring civilization, I had always assumed they were a bit on the small side of many other civilizations. If they had a civilization the size of humans, then I'd probably have a different impression of their Citadel status.

if the quarians were SMART about it and assesed the geths strength/true intentions the calamity couldve been avoided!

I wonder if some of the Collector technology might permit improvement of the immune system?  Nice twist if keeping the Collector base was the key to saving the Quarians.

I still think the Tali/Legion connection will be a key point, though.

Interesting... Collector technology might help.
And yeah, Tali/Legion connections solves alot of problems.

Do the words ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL mean anything to you people!?

I may be mistaken, but I recall the term billions being used.  Assuming that's true, that pretty much puts them on humanity's level itself.  The human's inherent awesomeness (as pointed out by the game,) would be counteracted by the quarians being around for millenia.

Unless Rannoch is a lot smaller than Earth, hard to see them putting forth a real effort to colonize unless that was filled up, which would probably put their population in the billions itself.

I kept that base. All the more reason to kill the Illusive Man if it indoctrinates him.

Actually, I've destroyed the base, too.

No. Judging from previous DLC I doubt anyone will have any dialog other than Shepard and Liara + enemies.

Wow. I turn my back for all of 3 seconds, and the thread gets locked again. Depressing, but at least we are back. Taking bets on how many pages we reach this time around. Im hoping for 20k, but my money is on 13567. No clue why.

Anyways, Im eating dinner, which is awesome. Makes me wonder what kind of human food Tali would like best, assuming she could eat it without the terrible side effects (namely death). Personally, I vote for mac & cheese, since, well, frankly, because its mac & cheese.

Now it fluctuates between 17-20 million out of necessity.  Prior to the Morning Wars there was a lot more, though we don't know the exact figure unless I'm mistaken.

Actually, Harbringer could only ASSUME DIRECT CONTROL on his Collector Drones, soldies, etc.
He cant ASSUME DIRECT CONTROL on their technollogy. Look at this and you'll understand.

It is reasonable to assume they had a population in the billions.

Hey, so how the heck is Tali supposed to know about the mining laser on Therum? She never left Engineering, not once after I recruited her. That's pretty silly they put stuff like that in the game. Also, my renegade Shep, Tali hated, by the end of ME1, so why would she *ever* wish Shepard was with her during her recruitment mission?

Tali in ME2 is one big retcon.

The explanation it whatever you want it to be. Does Tali see a heart of gold under the cruelest of Renegades? Is she in love with the idea of loving Shepard? Or maybe she just doesn't care. She wouldn't be the first person to enter an abusive relationship where the other person continually screws you over. It's really up to you.

As for the mining laser, maybe she talked to the people who went down with Shepard. You can find an explanation for anything, just takes some imagination.

I am so incredibly tempted to take this statement and apply it to a certain topic, but in the interest of not causing divisions or off topic anger rants I will not.

Now as to the question of why Tali favors the shotgun, my personal opinion is that as an engineer/ tech she will be more likely to engage enemies at close quarters than others. On the offence she will be hacking doors into enemy facilities and will have to counter any enemy on the otherside once she has gained entrance. The shotgun is ideal for this as it can quickly be brought up to fire at an enemy on the other side of the door with out as much need for accurate aiming. This is similar to defenceive situations where she may be hacking critical systems in an enemy ship or facility. Assuming the foe has somehow been alerted to her efforts they will attempt to storm the area  where she is located. Likely she will have a team there to keep them off her while she finishes her work, but in the event the line is breached the shotgun is ideal foe keepin the enemy at bay as they will have to close the distance to undo the damage she has done with her hacking skills. And finally shotguns are just playing cool not unlike TaliB)
