Had a lot in mind actually. It has been going on around about the galactic view of the Quarians.

But what about the Quarian's view of the galaxy? We know about the Geth. What about the Volus (I have an irk against them <_<), the Elcor, Turians, Salarians, etc...

thoughts?

Tries to get back on-topic... So how about Tali's legs, am I the only one to find this an attractive feature on her? Furthermore, do you think they evolved this way to run faster, or jump higher?

Well thank you.  The bolts are very controversial, and I've decided to simply take what people have to say about them, instead of defending them.

Thanks for the positive feedback though!

I LOVE THOSE LEGS.

Also. We established they evolved to run faster. The structure has similarities to species on earth that run very quickly, namely predators. Quarian legs appear to to be off shoots of this.

I think they view the rest of the galaxy with much naivete. Growing up communally with a sense of family, and finding out that's not how the rest of the galaxy works is jarring I bet.

I also imagine they hate batarians. A LOT.

I think its safe to say that you aren't the only person to find those legs attractive :wub:

And I would definitely say some kind of predatory adaptation for the legs, though not sure what benefit the curved shin gives really.

I  think  it  ranges  from  revenge  and  showing  the  greatness  of  the  Quarian  Race  (Xen).  To  just  accepting  it  and  trying  to  improve  the  overall  outlook  on  the  Quarians  by  other  people.  Pilgrimage  is  as  much  about  doing  what  was  aforementioned  as  well  as  attaining  resources  and  maintaining  genetic  variety.

I think it's because quarians don't have heels. I think the ball of their foot is actually where our heel would be. Mechanically, this makes more sense.

Batarians ARE generally hated. Stereotyped for their paranoid government and the large bands of mercenary and the likes.

I personally think they have a thing against the Volus. Despite being in the same condition of living within a suit, the Volus plays off as this rude, arrogant, little nymphos.

Oh, exclude THE BIOTIC GOD. He transcends them.

I don't think the quarians have an ill view towards most of the galaxy, they seem to fully blame their situation completely on themselves from what I can tell.  They seem to just accept their fate, live in their estranged relationship with the other races, and look forward to getting back to normal later.  I could see them making tiny assumptions about each race (humans being scary effective, turians being millitaristic,) but I don't see that differing much between races.

Phil my only guess is that maybe it has something to do with how much leverage can be exerted by the muscles, just like how most hind animal legs use the reverse joint because it can exert more force.

Tali is a great example of that mindset (also, she's really one of our few good examples). Since she came off as more optimistic about the galaxy in ME1 and then realistic in 2.

I think most quarians never really know what to think. I'm sure they hear things, but it doesn't really sink in the right way until they see it themselves.

In a way, it would be like living in America you're entire life and then spending a year in China. You hear things and learn things, but it's hard to get out of the mindset created by what you know about your life until you've seen it for yourself.

I doubt quarians have a thing against Volus. Tali even defends the volus when arguing with the Customs girl on the Citadel.

I saw some people post their Shepard's backstory and how they got involved with Tali in the previous thread, so here's mine.

Name: Andrew Shepard
Ethnicity: Caucasian (Hungarian/English)
Hair: Dirty Blonde
Eyes: Medium Blue
Home Planet: Mindoir
Morale system: Paragon (renegade once in a while)
class: Sentinel
ME LI: None.
ME2 LI: Tali

Pre-Alliance Life

While Andrew's mother was pregnant with him, a ship crash landed and exploded
on Mindoir releasing Eezo dust. Many children died from the exposure.
Shepard was the only one to develop biotic abilities from the accident.
90% of other exposures led to cancer that killed the children shortly
after birth. For the time being, his abilities were kept secret, until
one night where he came upon several of his class mates about to
sexually assault another classmate. He attempted to fight them using
fighting techniques taught to him from his instructor, but was
outnumbered and was forced to rely on his biotic abilties. He was
successful in defeating them, but then his secret was out. He spent
years being ridiculed for being a biotic. That changed when the slavers
came to Mindoir. Shepard was forced in between saving his parents or
saving a classroom filled with the very same students who bullied and
harrassed him for years. Despite every feeling in him urging him to
leave them to rot, he stayed to do the right thing. He took down a dozen
slavers while receiving a couple gunshot wounds. The students were...
somewhat grateful. He still spent the next several years alone.

He enlisted at age 18 and showed extrodinary biotic and tech talents.
While his tech skills were not on par with an engineer, he was still
considered a "jack-of-all-trades". He graduated from the N7 program.
While on leave on Elysium, slavers attacked. With littel resources and
marines, Shepard had to rally civilians to aid in the defense of Elysium.
He risked his own life to ensure the shetlers were protected. Shepard
led a small task group that consisted of three humans and a quarian, to
turn off the guardian laser system to allow Alliance reinforcements to
land.

To buy the squad time to retreat, Shepard stayed behind to
hold off the pirates. An explosion sent shrapnel that created a vertical
cut across his left eye. When the slavers were upon Shepard, the
Alliance arrived in time to stop them. Shepard was awarded the Star of
Terra for his efforts and was promoted to Lt. Commander.

Years passed and Shepard found himself on the Citadel looking for evidence to
prove Saren is a traitor. That was when he found Tali'Zorah. This young
woman who was able to defend herself against assassin and even extract a
geth memory core (a feat that even Alliance's top scientists have
trouble with). Helping her up to her feet, he felt something. Just a
good feeling about her. He found her to be very selfless when she gave
them the data without asking for anything in returned (data that was
worth millions). He has so rarely seen such selflessness. And even after
doing so, still volunteered to join his mission despite the dangers.

Shepard spent a lot of time talking to Tali about her and her people. They even
talked about tech. While Shepard was no where near her league in terms
of technical abilities, he knew enough to keep up. He realized what he
was feeling when he was around her: affection. He was falling for her.
Upon looking at those feelings, he believed one of the things that
connected them was that they were both sorely misunderstood. As a
Biotic, Shepard was disliked in public. It was barely any better in the
Alliance. There the soldiers would either avoid you (thinking that you
might crack and destroy the building) or harrass you endlessly. With
very few occasions where it was just apathy, that they didn't care he
was a Biotic. Along with their similar situation, her selflessness, her
attitude, her voice. Hell he couldn't even think of anything he didn't
like about her. Well except one... Her pilgrimage. Once she completes
it, she'll leave and he will be back to where he was before: alone. So
combined with that knowledge and the fact that he had no idea how she
felt, he kept quiet.

Shortly after taking down a geth incursion,  he found data about the Geth's
evolution. The perfect pilgrimage gift. He knew what was the right thing to do
(despite every feeling in him saying not to do it). Shepard went down to
engineering where Tali immediately asked for the data. He handed the data
over without resistance earning her gratitude. And when she thanked him and
said that the only thing she could offer him in return is what he already has,
her loyalty and services until the mission ended. "I never wanted
anything more," he lied. There was one thing he wanted. The only thing
he wanted.

After the end of Saren, Tali still stayed on the ship
and made no mention of going back to the Fleet which was unusual, but he
didn't complain. Then the Collector's came. Those final moments before
he ran out of air, the thoughts of regret ran through his mind. He never
told her...

He later woke up in a lab and wonder how he got
there only later to be given an unsatisfying surprise. When he got to
Freedom's Progress, he stiffled every feeling and urge in his mind and
body to not run to Tali and tell her everything. All he could muster
when she asked if it was him, was asking if the data helped her complete
her pilgrimage.

Then came to Veetor, who he gladly handed over
to Tali. No way in hell he trusts Cerberus with interrogating a Quarian,
not to mention he was delusional. Though before he did, he asked her if
she could join him. It sadden him she couldn't but his spirits were
risen when she said she could after her next mission.

After receiving the dossier about Tali he rushed to her aid on Haestrom. He
wasn't about to lose her. Not now. Garrus, Grunt and him plowed through
every Geth like they were a mild obstacle. He was relieved to see she
was still alive when he communicated with her. She asked him to make
sure Kal survived. He could never deny her requests, but grew worried
about Kal. Was he Tali's boyfriend? He still rescued him and her. It
felt good to have her back on the ship. It felt like normalcy returned
to his life. Then came to message. The Trial. Anger boiled inside him.
How dare they charge her with Treason. Despite the anger, he kept a
levleed head during the proceedings, even making Koris look incompetent.
He got they on the Alarei, where they found Rael's body. Garrus stood
silently. Tali wept uncontrollably. The only thing Shepard could do
wasplace a hand on her should, tug a little to let her know he was there
for her. She turned and hugged him and cried in his arms. It felt like
his heart was crumbling to pieces when she cried. Garrus only gave a
knowing, serious glance.

Rael caused all of this, but even after all he's done, she didn't want him to be
punished for it. Shepard felt angry again, now towards Rael. Never told his
daughter he loved her. Treated her like another soldier. and now he's gone,
and left her with this mess to clean up. And if this evidence was covered, she
would be exiled. He said nothing about using the eivdence. Again he could not
deny her requests. They returned to the Rayya to continue the trial. The
Admirals asked if they found anything to clarify what happened or to
prove her good judgement. One thought in his mind, "no". As he
approached the podium, Tali made one last plea, "Shepard, please..."
Something snapped in his mind. Just let it all go. Your feelings, your
regret, your anger. Along with a classic lawyer line, "If the law is
against you, argue the fact. If the facts are against you, argue the
law. If the facts and  the law are against you, you pound you fist
against the desk and yell as hard as you can." There followed he speech
about Tali's service and that the trial was nothing but a sham to cover a
political agenda. The Admirals were spooked. His breathing was heavy as
they casted the vote.

"We do not find evidence to convict you. You are cleared of all charges." He breathed a sigh of relief.

She thanked him was was surprised that he pulled it off. Shepard tried to
tell her he didn't do this for her father, it was for her and that she
deserved better.

"I got better. I got you." The was a sound of longing to her voice.

Later he came to check on her, she was suffering from a fever. A fever that started them on a path towards honesty and love.
