Ah, we actually had a fairly good discussion last night on what the purpose of the Pilgrimage may be. Their Pilgrimage gift would reflect on what the quarian sees as beneficial and what they value, while also teaching them firsthand what it meant to survive outside of their own fleet.

Interesting, I had always considered it more of a trial to just get through, with a minority going the extra mile for their own reasons (status increase, increased dedication to the fleet a la Tali,) but looking at quarians as a whole, that doesn't really seem correct.  Although the two purposes do seem like they overlap a little.  You can find something that you think is valuable and useful to the fleet without going through what Tali and Lia do.

Saw this pic recently, in it Tali has a prehensile tongue. Not really important, heck probably not based of Quarian evolution at all. But hey it's food for the mind. Would you like Tali with a prehensile tongue?

Topic: If Tali came back to the Flotilla (wich is not expected), Shepard would be able to live with her?

I... don't see why not.  He'd be stuck in a suit same as everyone else.  It might depend on just how he distinguished himself at the trial.

The Flotilla seemed welcoming enough of outsiders in Ascension, though in a way they really only wanted Kahlee Sanders, and for a specific purpose.  But they ended up letting Gillian stay, and for presumably a long time.

Whatever.

Whether you pay your slave population or not, the fact that you're oppressing them, dominating their lives based solely on race, is still wrong. It's still slavery.

And I can't support anyone who views Tali as a slave. <_<

I wasn't condoning slavery or indentured servitude, I was pointing out that you used the wrong term.

And I don't think quarians are exclusive to indentured servitude.

Let me state it clearly: I do not support Tali being a slave.

My views regarding Realpolitik and Trans-Galactic Diplomacy stand apart from my views on Tali.

That would be an interesting scene.  Having Shepard on board for a while, him learning to operate COMPLETELY within his suit.... Would create many a D'aww moment...

I was referring to Red.

And you're right. I didn't mean to imply that. I'm sure every species has been victim.

I think its our Loyalty to Tali, our unwavering wait for any news/new screenshots/new stories that makes us so grand...

I find that night crew is more friendly, back in my day as the Jacob Thread Ambassador, I visited both night and day crews, night crew proved to have more hospitality. I feel that night crew has a closeness that day crew lacks.

However it is marred by your enemies constant cries of:

"ENEMY IS EVERYWHERE!"
"I WILL DESTROY YOU!"
"GO, GO, GO!"
Over and over and over and over again until you leap out from cover guns blazing, not caring if you get shot just so you can get them to finally shut the **** up!
RAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

Considering the Pilgrimage seems to be more about the journey rather than the goal, that is debatable. They bring back outside materials that would benefit the fleet, true, but the idea is for the quarian to understand how to survive and show their culture.

Possible. It's definitely used to serve two causes, the question is whether they value the resources gained from the Pilgrimage more than the "field training" it gives the dispatched Quarian, as obviously the successful ones bring back both something useful and experience that will benefit them during fleet activities. It probably differs based on the individual; Rael'Zorah used Tali's Pilgrimage as a convenient mechanism to obtain Geth parts to experiment on, but that sort of tangible application of retrieved materials is most likely the exception rather than the standard.

Well, it is a Pilgrimage, even by definition. Their gift is meant to reflect what the quarian in question considered valuable and even benificial. Obvious gifts, such as ship parts and even full-vessels are obvious choices, but I do think the more lateral thinkers, like Tali, are the ones that shine the most. Geth data, geth data that the quarians had not been able to decrypt in centuries is the sort of things that shows a quarians worth.

This was how the discussion came.

I think Rune has a thing for this If I remember correctly. Me personally...no.....I mean I can see the kinky aspect but I don't want a chick with a tongue that can find its way down the back of my throat. I'm ok with fangs though.

But they affect her.

Human dominated galaxy means Tali is still a second class citizen. Third class, actually, as not even the new second class citizens like quarians.

Replaying Mass Effect makes you realize that Tali's VA really, really improved for Mass Effect 2. Her accent seems to be all over the place (I swear she starts talking in Sroka's real voice when she tells you to kill the Council)

Her consistency is better in ME2, but her voice acting in ME1 was very well done I thought.  She added a good amount of emotion to the character.

Not to mention the whole Talindoctrination thing
