I bet that in eighteen months or so, we'll all be happily playing as Hawke, having largely forgotten about our Wardens.

Well...for a while anyway...

Actually a while back I did entertain the thought that in similar fashion to how Awakening had you playing either the Ferelden Warden or Orlesian Warden, a future DA game might offer you a toss-up between our Warden or Hawke.

Without VO, its harder to do

With VD it falls off.Posted Image

You got a very short memeory if you can forget about a game you played little over a year ago from now.

switching from character to character hurts immersion i think. at the same time it'd be ridiculous to assume your warden goes around vanquishing evil forever and ever. i think i'll just have him die my next runthrough  so i can have some sort of closure for at least one file. it's just.. everyone who plays da2 after importing is going to be thinking.. i wonder if i'll see myself at some point and all the other questions that carries. it's just awkward, like kotor 2 with the exile, a large part of it is finding out what your original character is up to. it's like taking over some random dude at school or work and remembering that you used to be someone else and wondering what happened to your other self.

I hate the word immersion it is flung around way to much in the MMO world its something the care bears use when they step in the battle zones and get zerged and cry to devs to make pvp more blanced and fair

I haven't understand what do people mean for "closure" yet.
Do you need to see either your hero die or become a gibbous old man to consider the story "closed"? If you think so you should consider 99% of books and movies like to not have a closure.
The hero is usually a person who have a task to complete, the task of the Warden was to stop the Blight and to kill the Archdemon. He did it, therefore I consider his story to have a closure. Whether he spent the rest of his life in fighting darkspawn's pocket of resistance or travelling the world or he just retired to nugs breeding are not essential informations to me..

I have an idea for how BW could make it possible for a VO Warden:
If your a good guy you share body with Justice. You do the thinkin', he does the talkin' and you peacefully share the body.
If your a bad guy/mage you're possessed by a demon to some extent and you're both battling for control.

Everything is possible in a fictional world and if the devs would want it like this they could easily make it so.

I'm not sure where da 2 picks up from but im pretty sure its either before or right after the blight as Hawke is a survivor of lothering right so there is no doubt that the warden will be involved in the story and if im right the voice over could easily be the ones we pick during character creation lawl, Warden being a companion i doubt that but he/she will no doubt be involved in the story

Im not saying the warden is playable but you are gonna transfer your save files to da2 for a reason to put whatever changes your warden made into hawke's world and of course hawke is gonna see the warden in a lothering flashback or something right,

So you don't play as your grey warden in Dragon Age 2? also why are there no Origin stories in Dragon Age 2?

Will any returning characters be in Dragon Age 2 that were in your party in Origins, and Awakening?

While I think that returning to our Warden later in life (assuming he/she survived) could be a brilliant game and story in its own right. I kind of get the feeling the technical demands to acomplish would be pretty high. Most of us would want genuine continuation and acknowledgment of our Warden's actions - this could create a difficult sequel to develop not to mention folks who sacrificed their warden would likely want to see that outcome reflected as well. Trying to develop a game that would cater to that segmentwhile not making them feel like they're missing the genuine experience, I'm just not sure how feasable that would be. Still I'd love to see Bioware prove me wrong. I'm just not very optomistic its that good of an idea after playing Awakening. Not that I didn't enjoy Awakening, quite the contrary, but I did feel it really dropped the ball making me feel like it was a genuine continuation, and the few moments that touched on the first game were the most disapointing aspects of the expansion.

This is SO good to hear. I wonder how importing SO many major decisions by two different characters will be dealt with. (ME2 was a letdown there) But YAY for more Warden time! Witch Hunt just wasn't a fitting ending. AT ALL.

Well, I won't forget my wardens. At least the one that entered the portal with Morrigan.
