When looking at the Blogs link on top of the page, I get pretty much only spam as a result and no paging, so looking for new stuff is pretty much impossible.

Seriously, is anyone even trying to police that spam haven? It can't be that hard. You're calling this thing a "social network", it's time you throw some personnel at it to monitor it!

The blog section spam has been noticed and is being dealt with. There are only so many of us to go around however, so sometimes it takes longer to spot things like this. If you want speedier results, send a private message to a moderator with links to the content in question. Thank you.
