Will DA2 be short? (based on the GI article)

"Origins is very large. There’s no way you could make a game that huge that is as baroquely and finely detailed as Gears of War, say."
Based on the details of the graphics so far, it means that DA2 will be much shorter than DA:O, if what they wrote is true. It does make sence since ME2 was shorter than ME1 but better graphics (if this is a valid logical assumption). Also including the fact that now main char has VO, costs and HD space will also effect the length.
Please post your thoughts about it, and (hopefully) prove my point wrong. But lets keep complaining about the length of it outside this thread.

As for complaining.... You may not have read this: http://www.videogame...eg_zeschuk.html
It will make you feel just excellent about caring enough to complain. Me, I'm working on being idly curious about how this works out, but not actually giving a damn.

I don't think there's any reason to assume that anything about the graphics would make the game shorter, that doesn't make sense to me given that it's not that detailed in terms of modelling. Now the VO for the protagonist, that's another story, and much more likely to result in a shorter game.
I quated only part of the paragraph, before it thay said that they are working on making everything more detailed. So as I see it, it means that they will not be able to just use "random generator" of sort and will do ME2 trick with "every location has it's own feel and look". Thus requiring more time to do and more space to store.
From another point they maybe can exploit constantly expanding capacity of the HD (in this case Im talking about consoles) and use same thing as Forza3 did: where they had socond dvd, which you had to install on your harddrive.

edit: here's the rest of the quote, for reference:
"I think actually right now, games are in this kind of baroque phase,
where everything has to be realistic and super-encrusted in detail. That
was also another factor in the decision, trying to put the art in a
place where it looked different from other things out there."
He's saying it isn't going to be ultra-detailed like Gears of War.

Maybe, but I'd bet that the devs had the DA2 design direction in mind even as they were working on DA:O.

I wasn't talking about that the article said about art or graphics.Bugzehat wrote...
Actually, the article's saying the exact opposite -- that they aren't going to go for an ultra-realistic and detailed art style because it wouldn't be possible in such a large game. I don't think the improved graphics mean that the game will be shorter.

This is how I interpreted the article too. If anything I would think DA2 could be much longer than Origins since they are focusing all of their resources on one character.

Sorry, but I roll my eyes at thee. Seeing an alpha test video with a handful of character models, PLACEHOLDERS at that, and about 10 screenshots and you say that "DA2 seems rushed" ?

.If we assume it will be a large game then it feels like tis coming out so soon it has to be rushed.Of course this may not be true. Its just the general feeling at this stage.javierabegazo wrote...

c´mon all the pc gamers whine about everything, the graphics, the combat, the style, the story, hawke, if is rushed and if have to sell 10 mill etc.
Please don't make sweeping generalisations and lump people into groups. I see plenty of complaints from players across all the platforms.
