I live in a rural area where DSL is fairly new, and my service has a bad habbit of going out for hours at a time. When this happens and I try to resume my game it won't let me as I can't log into the servers to verify that I am who I am and have access to the DLC.

This is vexxing to say the least. The minimum system requirements don't even _mention_ an internet connection, and as it is a single player game it would be nice to be able to play it without internet.

I understand all the measures that have been taken to prevent DLC piracy, etc, but it is to the point that it is crippling. Is there no way to do a one time verification of an account so you can play DLC offline? I've seen some programs (Windows being one of them) where it takes a record of the computer hardware and so long as the hardware is identical it won't prompt for a login, and if the hardware changes you merely have to reactivate your code or verify you are who you are via internet.

These are just my thoughts on the matter. Again I understand the measures being taken are to help prevent piracy and I am not mad, but I lose hours of play at a time due to internet issues, and where other players have beat the game and are on their second origin, I am still on my first.

I agree this is annoying. I got logged in ok, but for some reason said i could not load my game as the account was not linked to my DLC. I checked my DLC on the website and it was listed. closed the game and retried and it worked. Even though I had logged out and back in again via the game. I am all for copy protection, but everyone knows this does not stop the pirates and only annoys the legit users. makes me tempted to try!

I read 3 days ago that this was unintended, and would be hotfixed. Unfortunately I think the search function on this forum is broken, and I cant find that link. There was a guy that had the same issues as me. Have the game that I play on pc when at home, and laptop when on the road ( away from any internet connection ). Now I'm not sure if they are actually considering this as a bug or working as intended.

It has to be unintended. There are much better alternatives to protect DLC that requiring a validation via the internet every time the DLC content is accessed.

It simply is not necessary for a single player game that is installed on the local computer / console.

Hopefully Bioware will address it soon as it also appears that they are having lots of trouble with their servers, and with this validation technique, if the servers are down, very few will be able to play.

I thought I'd seen the topic before, but with 80+ pages of forum posts, these forums are in a fair bit of disarray. Perhaps the first step should be to sort out the technical support forum into sub forums, because I'm sure that countless of these threads could have been stacked in the same topic. I'm sure it's a nightmare for Bioware's teams to keep on top of everything, hence the delay in hotfixes, etc.

I was expecting something like this to happen with game issues, as most games of this magnitude have a varying degree of bugs that no amount of beta testing will uncover prior to a full public release. But the website issues were not expected. I thought the original Neverwinter Nights forums were a bit more organized than this, and that game's DLC was much better handled.

But it is a new release, I'm certain that after a month or two the major issues will be settled. I waited a year for the game, I suppose a few months of sporadic playability is a small price to pay considering.

Is IS so? I was beginning to suspect that. :o
I generally play off-line, but fortunately DA isn't as draconic as NWN2 on system resources, so maybe I can play with the internet and all security applications running anyway.
