Vampires obsessed with sex are fine with me provided they are like this. [Sort of NSFW]

My portrait to the left is already vomiting his own beard.

Vampires don't seem like they would fit in this fantasy realm. Really, Transylvania? I guess... we saw werewolves in DAO, but that was nicely done. Vampires... too cliche.

Vampire is a race, no way to let it happen as long we don't have even elves or dwarves

The way undead seem to work in the DA setting they'd have to be some kind of demon possessed corpse as someone mentioned earlier. Unless you want to go with the theory that vampires aren't really undead they're just a different race.

But ... no. I can do without vampires in DA tbh.

Vampire isn't a race, it's a sub-species or illness at best.

true, should have said "undead" perhaps (althought in DA they may be posessed humans so demons instead?), it still remains a fact however that if the other races got taken out it would be absurd to think to have vampires instead

I submit best of both worlds; yes there are vampires, but they are all like the vampire Nosferatu.

I don't see why they wouldn't work in DA's universe. Vampires weren't out of place in The Witcher, as NPCs or hostile monsters. As a class specialization, that may be a longshot, but relegated to some other role in the game, it's perfectly feasible.

With demons, dragons, lycanthropes, giant spiders, undead, and whatnot - I fail to see where vampires would stick out like a sore thumb.

The devs said on the pre-release forums for DA that the only vampires we might ever encounter in TheDAS were of the (and this is a direct quote) "om nom nom" variety. Essentially, mindless, blood-craving monstrosities who have no interest in romance.

I bring you Word of God.

Vampires just wouldn't fit with the setting imo. Though, I GUESS there could be Blood Mages that have grown dependent on using blood magic. But fangs and blood sucking? No.

Yeah, no vampires! What next, they start throwing in werewolves? PREPOSTEROUS!  :P

According to the Codex, "vampires" in Dragon Age are nothing more than mortals possessed by hunger demons and are driven to devour everyone around them. I'm guessing they're not Edward Cullen look-a-likes.

It is just trendy and cool to hate vampires, because of the recent movies and books. When people hear the word vampire, their mind stops working, they forget everything, and picture the glowy skinned Edward 80 year old vampire stalking 16 year old girls.

I hate those movies, because monstrous powerful vampires were great foes in the D&D based games. I guess we are now stuck with vampires either being creepy old guys stalking teenage girls or hot chicks in leather. At least the hot chicks aren't raiding the local jr high for boyfriends. read Twilight and Vampire diaries whose entire preimise is 80+ year old things going to high school, bizzaro. .

You'd think that the amount of blood splattered on your character's faces indicates Thedas as a world abundant in cattle.

It could be done well, but I would protest aslong not even dwarves and elves are included
