The devs said on the pre-release forums for DA that the only vampires we might ever encounter in TheDAS were of the (and this is a direct quote) "om nom nom" variety. Essentially, mindless, blood-craving monstrosities who have no interest in romance.
I bring you Word of God.

Lord I hope not. I especially hated the Oblivion vampires, though mostly because they ruined all that time I spent in the character creator by mutating my poor ranger in to a fugly old man. I would much rather they expanded blood magic. That's about as close as I ever want them to come to vampirism in this game.
You should be able to be a vampire or theyre should be vampires intsead of werewolfs in DA2, but unlike TES, the vampires should be super hot and attractive. It makes sense cos in vampire lore, vamps are supposed to be suductive, sexual and attractive. TES got it wrong

i hope not. that would be bad for the game. makes no sense in dragon age to have vampires of this sort.sinthetic17 wrote...
Do you think we'll see a vampire/undead specialization? I was reading another forum and noticed someone asking about a vampire build.
I've only seen this in Elder Scrolls 4, where you could create a character that could be a vampire or zombie with rapid health regen.
Do you think we'll get anything like this in DA2?

Having to deal with dwarves and elves is bad enough without bringing vampires into it.

Um, no. The "sexy vampire" trope is a modern invention. Vampires of lore were ghoulish monstrosities.KLUME777 wrote...

I'm sorry, I think you should stop killing your brain with Laurel Hamilton and introduce yourself to Bram Stocker or any other classical vampire novel. It'll do you good.

Wouldn't work. You'd need a day/night cycle for it to be semi interesting.
BTW DA2 needs a day/night cycle in general!

Think back further. The word "vampire" goes as far back as 1734, even though many ancient cultures have creatures similar to those vampires.

Well ofcourse, but it would be akward to hear him as a vampire... and not the one you are talking about.
Also, yea, would be nice, or a werewolf spec would be cool too.

BOLOK was epic. Top Down/2D action RPG Vampire. Nothing like Twighlight, not even close.
Epic game, would be awesome on the DAO engine remade

Monstrous powerful vampires were great foes in the D&D based games. I guess we are now stuck with vampires either being creepy old guys stalking teenage girls or hot chicks in leather. At least the hot chicks aren't raiding the local jr high for boyfriends. read Twilight and Vampire diaries whose entire preimise is 80+ year old things going to high school, bizzaro. .
I love D&D vampires, no matter what side of the DM screen I'm on. It's fun to sic them on your players as a DM, and as a player, that moment of "....uh, guys? We're epically f-ed" is equally entertaining. D&D vampires are scary-ass. And don't get me started on Bodhi's coven...stupid level-draining prats.

If there are vampires, there better be a Templar named Blade, with a dark visor and awesome sword, that you can recruit to kill them all.

Blade is a pretty boy black leather wearing vampire that walks around in sunlight. He is part of the problem, not the solution:)
