Being John Malkovich, The Big Lebowski, Burn After Reading, Michael Clayton, Up in the Air. I generally watch anything with Clooney in it.
And for those that haven't seen Inception yet, I'm afraid we can't be friends until you watch it.

(Interesting analysis of the movie http://www.collative...r analysis.html)
Lost In Translation - romantic and beautiful yet not girly romancy
Lord of the Rings - had to read the books afterwards and viewed all te making-of videos the lotr website back then.
PJ's King Kong was a lot weaker though - note the dino stampede scene, sad.
Matrix, had to watch 3 times to understand the concept.
Princess Mononoke, Feral girl riding a huge white wolf that growl-speaks, amazing imagery, courageous characters that does what they have to do without an iota of second thoughts.
Aliens 1 - Another movie with awesome talent collaborating, what original means.
Dark Water - Creepy and opressive, ending is a little over the top, but the whole cinema went nuts during the last scenes, good times.

28 day's later, my favourite zombie movie (even if they aint realy zombies) No random pointless gore, and the characters were brilliant. When a certain character dies, i found it was one of the most emotional deaths i have ever seen in a horror. The sequel is good aswell, but not as good, too much action.
The road, i knew i would have loved this before release and i was right, awsome film. But a very depressing film.
Shaun of the dead, a comedy classic.
Toy story, everybody knows it, and everybody loves it. I decided to watch it again the other day (with the release of the third one) and it still feels good to watch. Not like when you decide to watch a old cartoon you loved when you was a kid and just realised it actually sucked.

The first TMNT movie as well as the most recent animated one I like partly just because I'm a sucker for anything TMNT-related, and partly because they're pretty good movies in their own right. The second movie was terrible and the third was only a bit better than the second, so I'm not completely indiscriminate about that.
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension is probably my all-time favourite movie. It does humour exactly the way I prefer it, for one thing; everything within the movie takes itself completely seriously, and so it's very funny. It's kind of a hard movie to describe. 'Brilliantly mad' might work.
Repo Man is another movie I like in a somewhat similar vein of humour. Also Dr. Strangelove and The Mouse That Roared.
I'm quite fond of Blade Runner, though I don't like to watch it terribly often.
All The President's Men and Ice Station Zebra are just good movies that I like to watch every now and again if I've got the time. Same goes for 2001: A Space Oddysey (and 2010, though to a lesser extent).
Forbidden Planet, I think, still holds up quite well. I actually like the special effects better than many modern movies (partly because there's something about obvious CG that really tweaks me).
Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal are just fun, and that's mostly why I watch movies. I'm also apparently not very good at describing why I like things.
I also like to watch really bad movies for humour value, but that doesn't count as liking them exactly...
Edit: Forgot The Day The Earth Stood Still. The original. Fits into pretty much the same category as Forbidden Planet, I suppose.

Agreed. I really enjoyed the film. I really did, but I felt like crap afterwards. I still don't quite understand the ending though, but i don't want to spoil anything so I won't post anymoreFunkcase wrote...

theres a reason for that, the plot wasn't that good but people saw things blow up and said it was excellentValente11 wrote...
AVATAR - great movie. Also, the fact that all the self righteous movie, or emo, or RPG(yea im looking at you Bioware forums!) nerds HATE it. I wouldn't like it so much if people on these forums didn't hate on it for no reason! Honestly, sometimes I like things just to spite all of you.
as for a movie, Inception
a great movie where even its flaws make sense in its plot and a rare story that would be almost impossible to write a book about

One of my favorite horror movies of all time is still John Carpenter's The Thing... and knowing that most of those special effects were accomplished with trashbags and bubble gum makes it even more cool.
I liked the Thing as well. The special effects were done by Rob Bottin and are some of the best I've seen even with the fancy cgi of today. I personally think that the old effects for creatures and that stuff are scarier than the cgi monsters. Of course that's not the case for every movie.
Another great movie that uses old fashioned effects is called Slither. The movie uses the old school way plus throws in some CG effects when necessary. However, most of the gross out sequences are old school. I think the movie used the most ky jelly ever in a motion picture.
*The film Slither features a hardware store that is called Macready's Hardware. It's a reference to Macready from the thing.
*Check out The Thing video game if you really liked the movie. It the unofficial sequel to the film.
Feast is a great movie. There are two more movies in the series. If your in for a gory good time with lots of crazy jokes then rent all three of these bad boys.

I really like Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrells. The wit, humor & irony is fantastic. Add to that a little violence, perversion & gansters. A+
That's probably my all time favourite movie.
