Discounting Kim's brilliant 3-Iron, the finest love story on film I've seen.

Over the years the film has achieved a cult status and has a legion of fans waiting for another film to come along that actually doesn't suck. Return of the Living Dead sparked a few films. Return of the Living Dead II was decent. Return of the Living Dead III was okay but the degradation of the series began to become apparent. The other movies that followed were really bad.
Here is the main reason why the film has stuck in my mind all these years. Well, there is another reason why and that is linnea quigley.

That is the Tar Man for those of you who don't know. The Tar Man is awesome.
*The soundtrack is really good as well. The two songs that are memorable from the movie are
Tonight That song is from the best part in the movie featuring Linnea Quigly. She dances naked through a cemetary.
Burn the Flames That was a creepy scene when a man infected decides to cremate himself instead of turning into a zombie.

Wasn't Return of the Living Dead written and directed by recently deceased Dan O'Bannon?

Yes, but i didn't know he died.
Another of my favorites is Reanimtor.
Scream Queen Barabar Crampton is smoking in this one. Aside from the standard TnA that these movies offer the humor and effects in Re-Animator are also really good.
Bride of Reanimator is good but after that I don't recomend any of the films. I think there's only one anyway.
If your a fan of Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton you can find them in From Beyond.

Master and Commander - an outstanding movie. The trailers make it seem like an action flick, but it isn't - there are awesome naval battle scenes, but most of the movie is centered around naval life at the time, the relationship between the captain and the doctor, and the wonder of an 18th century nature study. It also has a great soundtrack. A must see movie.
Quills - When this one came out, I actually went to see it in the movie theatre on a whim, knowing absolutely nothing about it besides the name. What a pleasant surprice. It's the story of Marquis De Sade (the man after whom the term "sadism" was coined), but mostly it's a story about artistic licence, and freedom of speech. It is a delicious movie; you'll have a smile on your face throughout... well, maybe with the exception of a couple of gruesome scenes.
Pan's Labyrinth - A dark fantasy, and a captivating, very unique film. It's a Spanish film, but well worth watching even if you aren't usually into foreign language films. It's set in 1944 Spain, ruled by facists, and centers around a yong girl who escapes into a fantacy world of her own, away from the troubles and horrors of real life... though her fantasy world can be quite terrifying on itself.

I really enjoyed this movie! Russell Crow and Paul Bettany make a great pair.
