I hope they don't jump on the bash-the-organised-religion bandwagon which is so cliche.

The Templars and Chantry had a good reason for their actions as events in Mage Circle Tower show in Dragon Age 1.

Treating people like their sub-human is exactly why Uldred and the mages revolted against the templars in the first place. I can't speak for other people, but given the conquest of the Dales (that the Dalish have said was because they refused to be converted to the Andrastian Chantry) and imprisoning people because of their magical ability, I find a great deal wrong with the Chantry.

This is utterly fascinating. I find the interplay of politics and religion in the Chantry very interesting--they remind me of the Catholic Church back when it held considerable political sway in Europe. Fun times, fun times.
My question is what being the Champion of Kirkwall actually means in relation to the templars. Based on earlier comments about the Chantry being in a terrible state while Cassandra's asking her questions, it might mean that Hawke has a pivotal role in not only breaking the templar stranglehold on Kirkwall, but messing with the Chantry at large while s/he is at it. Or maybe that's just me and my desire to explode some templars into soggy bits talking ><

I really hope this is the case. Seeing as the Chantry turned down the Magi boon from DA:O and gives mages no rights, I'd like to see Kirkwall become a bastion for free mages throughout Thedas, and dismantle the Chantry's power structure. Wynne makes it clear in Awakening that if the Chantry isn't in control of the mages, they would rather commit genocide instead. The lesson learned from the hundreds of years of culling Circles and the fall of the Dales is that Chantry won't stop, unless someone stops them.

And considering there are more theists and believers then there are skeptics and atheists, I'd rather the war be fought over internet forums. The worst odds I'll ever engage in are 3 to 1. In this case it's like 300 to 1.

Is or is not Atheism a CENTRAL tenant of Marxist philosophy?

No.

One of the most essential parts of Marxism is a total abolishment of religion. To live in the perfect Marxist state everyone would have to be atheist. So yes, atheism is a central part of the Marxist ideal.

I have a theory hawk is actually a noble born for Kirkwall and now that his country is in disarray he/she fight to bring order. For so long the templar’s have watch that country and meddle in the affairs of that country, not to mention the invading forces of the qunari. Now this is why the templar’s are very interesting in hawk.

The mods have stated that debates about real-life religious and political beliefs are considered off-topic here, so take this elsewhere.

Ironically, I'm Catholic and I am against the Chantry in general.

elfs can also control magic far better... mages should be free (the poor quaran who was bound) - bet the sister loved seeing him bound. "the templar with her smelled of death".

chantry should be burned to the ground.. bunch of idiots anyway (bar one incredibly lovely rogue from the first game)

While going through my first playthough, I was pro-mage until about midway through Act 2.  After the events in that, coupled with the rampant blood magic in Kirkwall, I was like 'I think the templars have a point here, mages get face stomped from here out.' (Merril bring the only exeception just because she's so gosh darned adorable)
