This is gonna be hard to explain. I am still playing Origins, and haven't beaten it once. I have learned that, in a situation I know nothing about, the main character can die in the end. My question is: If this happens, does it prevent me from playing the expansions? Please don't spoil the ending any more than it already has.

No, you could still import your dead character into the expansion. He gets better, without explanation.

Actually, after completing the game, an auto-save is created. While this save occurs after the end of the game, there is a notice saying that, in terms of in-game chronology (order of events), the save is actually just before the end-game sequence. So you are able to export your Warden into the Expansion because, in the middle of the Blight, he took off to do other things.
