merging areas from two mods

I'm in the process of making a companion mod. Ultimately I want to make it fully compatible with other companion mods - especially Return to the Korcari Wilds since I like that one (mostly). However, the RtKW companions are rubbish, but the two areas are quite fun to play. The author took the mod off the nexus and then disappeared off the face of the planet. Fortunately, I had downloaded it before he took it off the site. (Though someone else has re-uploaded it since.)

The problem is that when both mods are running, his companions show up in the partypicker and mine do not. I must be missing something because I thought they were supposed to overlay each other not overwrite each other. At first, I tried adding waypoints for his companions into my char_stage and then deleting his module script and partypicker 2das, but no go. So then I figured that since I didn't like his companions anyway, I could just copy his area files and related resources into my mod folders, delete the hiring lines from his companions' dialogue trees, and get rid of all other unnecessary files. I added pins and trails for his areas to my world map (I copied the information for them directly from his world map). In-game when I click on the area, the trail leads to the pin and then goes into endless loading mode on the map screen. 

Is it even possible to add his areas to my world map? If so, what am I doing wrong?

I can give you the waypoint information for his characters, if you want; also, I'm planning a mod that will eliminate the hassles of getting companion mods to work together, so let me know if you want in.

I found his character tags and waypoint positions on char_stage. (Though is it necessary to have them in the exact same location?) Is there something else I need? I guess I need to know how exactly get both of our partypickers to function together. Whatever I'm doing is clearly not right.
