Sometime i want to say bad thing and get a +10
Some woman love bad guy.

Always trying to be the perfect little boy answering correctly/gently to everyone or what they want to hear ****** me off.Than you end up meta gaming or spamming them with gift with each bad answer.

Allistair - Oh you had bad dream
PC: leave me alone
Allistair okay but i need to tell you
PC- OKAY
Allistair blahblahblah
PC: You lied to me
Allistair dissaprove - 10

Allistair now hate you .. Be warned ... He will always remember your cruelty

That when i realized how much i hate the approbation system.

I'm not...sure...what you're saying, but...

I took the approval system to not mean "they hate you more/they love you more" but rather a reflection on their general attitude towards you. Like, if you don't get Alistair's jokes, does that mean he likes you less than if you did? No, it just means that if he did, he'd like you more.

And it added a sense of realism, for me. Some situations were a little ridiculous, and would have been made better if I could have defended myself/followed up on them. I think they would have been greatly improved by having a far more nuanced approval system, where just about everything you say affects it to smaller degrees. More important things deserve bigger approval/disapproval boosts, of course. But anything to prevent all three of my heroic characters watching you blankly when you dump corpses down the capital city's water supply.

How about when you start the gmae it gives you an option:

[ ] Want romance?

[ ] Dont want romacne?

You check which box you want to play in and then your off. Everyones happy -_-

SO not going to happen, but yeah.

Except you always have that option. Just don't romance them. Having a...romance toggle would just makes it impossible to romance a character, but it doesn't add any friendship content or whatever.

*snerk*  I still remember someone complaining on the DA:O forums that Zevran had traumatized him for life.  Somehow he'd managed to take Zevran's offer of a private massage in his tent...without clothes...as a platonic thing   David Gaider was suitably snarky.

...I honestly don't believe that. That isn't just being dense or obtuse. It's...just impossible. Maybe if it wasn't your language, maybe. Especially because Zevran only asks you if you're already in a romance with him.

Though Leliana, when I first started playing, was such a lunatic about the romance. I know it was probably buggy, but I prefer to think she was just crazy.

"I really like the nights we spend..."
"I like someone else, Leliana."
"Oh...what, why would I care if you like someone else ha ha ha!"
"Great."

Next conversation...

"You love Alistair, don't you?!"

Nutcase.

David Gaider didn't seem to believe him either.

I am sorry, I'm cracking up, but I just can't believe it. What the hell is that supposed to mean? How can you be that oblivious? It's not like starting the romance is something subtle, either!

Maybe the player just wasn't paying very close attention to Zev's dialog, and skipped through some of it.  Or maybe he was watching TV at the same time.  One way or another, missing that required EPIC ATTENTION FAILURE

To op, Im not sure what you are getting at but Im thinking most people wouldnt be opposed to more depth in getting to know someone but taking away options is hardly a good idea

Your post isn't the most eloquent but... yes, I agree. 100%. Maybe I want to play a villainous character with a fawning fanboy or girl. I should be able to be rude/snarky/downright mean to certain characters and receive bonuses. Not with every character, obviously, but a few characters like that would be nice.

I hate the fact that romances have become a staple part of Bioware games like they're dating sims. I liked that in games such as kotor you had the option to pursue one of two romances and you had to initiate them with flirtatious lines. It seems like every character in Dragon Age tells you that they're into you at some point. I definitely disapprove -10 of the overkill of romances in BW games recently.

only three are "telling you that theyre into you at some point". except, of course, youre a multisexual creature. if so, how did you make this, i didn't see that option in the character creator.

To be fair to Bio, I doubt this will happen (please Bio don't make me eat my words!). In all their games, the worst they've done is enforce one romance per gender (though even in those cases, men have usually had one extra, hmph).

In KOTOR you had Carth and Juhani if you were a female Jedi, and only Bastila if you were male Posted Image

EDIT: And I DO consider Juhani a romance.. just because you won't see her and you character hand in hand at the end of the game it doesn't mean you weren't in love...

I loved Juhani! And yes, I agree it was a romance, but not as fully developed as Carth/Bastila, which was a shame.

KOTOR is the only Bioware game I have yet to finish. I've tried for months and I just can't get into it. I can't stand Star Wars and that's peppering me even wanting to play and finish it. When I hear so much love for the characters and romances in the game I feel so horrid because I just can't bring myself to finish a game so many people obviously loved.

What s/he said.

I would rather have choices on who to fall in love with, i mean don't get me wrong it could work, but I would prefer choices and different relationships.  Every character has a unique personality and people like those different personalities.  So although a cool idea, not in the best interest for us females :P

Of course not -- he does. Young straight men enjoy manufacturing opportunities to energetically declare themselves grossed out by gayness. This lad got exactly the kind of entertainment he was looking for.

But those three have been the last three full games, I don't see why one couldn't easily assume such trend would continue?

Wait, are we talking about how many BioWare games have romances? I thought they were talking about companions that are romancable.

Because all of the their major games except Baldur's Gate have romances, no?

Pretty much.  And only the original BG lacks for romances, AND it's so heavily modded for that it might as well have a frillion romance interests.

I've accidentally started the romance with Zevran with comments I didn't perceive to be necessarily flirtatious. :<
