Please devs, if you plan to put in fancy sounding effects to swords, armor, rings, etc. loot, please make them ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING, this time. Posted Image

It seems "+% healing effects", "weakens nearby darkspawn", and other seemingly cool properties did zilch, and haven't been fixed in later patches. The modding community has had to step up, and clean after you guys... Posted Image

So if you leave something unimplemented, just take out the placebo effects, thanks! Posted Image

"Weakens nearby darkspawn" did not do zilch, sir! I was killing darkspawn left, right and centre with Asturian's Sword.

But +?? to healing does not work properly, you are correct.

The only effect that did not work was the healing effects bonus, others were perfectly fine. If anything, they should implement more.

Here's a list from the Wiki of 90 documented bugs. I doubt the list is complete. It includes some bugs that Mox refers to.

BioWare has a tradition of not being willing to fix bugs. I own 4 BW games (1 boxed, 3 from Steam). All 4 got patches that didn't properly address reported bugs.

Indeed.

I remember that even as far back as BG1, there were numerous bugs and poorly implemented features that the community had to repair themselves with various fixpacks.

Ah. It's structural then. Just bought a fifth BW game. I'll be on the lookout for the bugs. :P

And my related pet peeve: RATIONAL LOOT PLZ

No, the wolf was not carrying a helmet and fifteen coins. No, the warrior wielding a sword did not drop a crossbow.

Animals drop skins and meat. Humans drop the gear that they are using, unless it is destroyed when you kill them. Monsters drop things that the monster would actually have. Want to give us something else? Stick it in a nearby chest.

And be more clear about the bonuses items give. Show the actual percentage values, I shouldn't have to wiki every item or potion I get to find out what it actually does or to find that the value is bugged and it does nothing at all. The same goes for powers that only give vague descriptions. We aren't stupid Bioware.

Well such things are partialy justified. For example a giant spider or a dragon could drop a piece of equipment because they ate its previous owner. Why was it not corroded by gastric juice is another question. Maybe said piece of equipment was magicaly enhanced to withstand acids! I know - who does that, right? ;)

OP is right, weakens nearby darkspawn doesn't work... along with many other weapon properties--

+% healing
messy kills
vicious
interrupts spellcasting
radiates cold (except the visual effect)
telekinesis (the one on Daisycutter in Awakening only, not the one conferred by the spell)
chance to stun
lucky
decreases/increases hostility
chance to ignite target
flame aura
explosive

...and I'm pretty sure Rapid Aim doesn't do anything unless it's on the Repeater Gloves, either. There are probably others as well. Feel free to correct me if you think one of those shouldn't be on the list, but I have a feeling that's exactly what Mox Ruuga was talking about, the placebo effect at work. Some of them may have been patched to work since last I checked, but I doubt it.

Yeah, that's exactly it. The "decreases hostility" property, for example, is used in many seemingly neat Rogue items, including the boots the City Elf gets in the origin story. I know there's been a third party fix for the "+% healing effects" property, but it'd be nice if the devs took care of these themselves...

EDIT

Of course, besides loot, this might also apply to various skills, spells, and talents.

Since the lewt subject is touched, there's something about nearly all modern RPGs and lewt.

Lewt gets better when stats grow. However, this makes gathering lewt kinda boring. I'd like to see magical items which feel unique. Items with "use" effects, where the use is effectively a new type of spell, or a unique ability that doesn't trivially decompose into stats.

Even lewt oriented towards different types of tactics, so that for fight X, a certain combination of magical items is needed but for the next fight, they're practically useless for tactics reasons. Or, the opposite, a low stat item being useful even at the final battle, not because of it's stats but rather because of its on-use effects.

Make lewt interesting per se, not interesting because of titanic stats. Just my two copper.

I'd like it if almost all the loot wasn't randomly generated garbage. If I wanna walk around, picking junk up off the ground, and throwing it away, I could do that IRL.

I want them to cut out the useless loot too like the rolls of parchment, bronze rings, ornate bowls, gems, ect... They were a waste of space in my inventory. I would rather they either replace them with gold or give these items some kind of purpose.

I love BioWare, but they are horrible at fixing bugs (NWN1, for example). If you don't follow the proper channels for bug reporting, then the bug doesn't exist. They also will not answer or "set the record straight" when forums discuss the existence of the aforementioned bugs. It seems like the execs say, "Does Bug X make the game unplayable? No? Then let's not waste time and resources fixing it, let's just add new content and they'll forget about it."

Oh well, I don't want BioWare to think I'm a total ****, obviously I wouldn't buy their games if I didn't think they were top-notch. <3

Yep lo0tz is easy to fix

- All trash loot - convert to gold coins

-animals/beasts have stackable Meat/Skins/Teeth/Horns whatever, which are sold for coin OR used for potion making

-Loot tables with %chance for rare, very rare, uber rare, uniques. Uniques and Uber Rares only drop from RED NAMEs or a new class, higher than YELLOW, lower than RED? Orange?

-Boss have boss lewt tables, w/ % chance for Uniques. This makes replaying the game even more fun as you have a new chance for an item you've never seen

-put chests on similar loot tables

Oh, gawd. No Loot % stuff, please. This isn't a multiplayer game and I don't replay single player games for the chance to find new stuff. It really annoyed me that Gaxgang wouldn't drop Fade Wall most of the time. It just meant I had to keep reloading. <_<

I approve of this if there is an animation of Hawke cutting his way inside and having a proper look. ^_^

what's funny about this is even Gaider got in on it.  He had done numerous "unofficial" fixes and tweaks for the sloppy things in BG1-2

*snicker*  Nice.  I'm ok with slightly nonsensical loot--it's a trope as old as dirt, and I've just gotten sort of inured to it.  What I'm actually sick of is vender trash.  Yes, that's a very nice vase.  I'm a freaking GREY WARDEN.  I do not kill dragons with vases.
