   Hi to all,

I have an odd problem with a custom race (Minotaur) that is receiving Tumble skill as class skill whatever is the class you pick for it.

We have several other custom races an any of those have that problem. The only special things about the Minotaur is that they is giant racial type. We have also used gray-orc row in 2da to implement it (because we don't allow that OC race in our PW)

Has someone faced a similar problem? Any hint about what can be the cause of that problem? There's anything I should check again (I have a good knowledge of 2da files, but who knows :P)?

   Thank you in advance,

   MachinSin

Complete stab in the dark here...

You might be having some conflict between your Skills 2da and the basic CLS_SKILL_.2da's

I know that in the OC the UMD skill is set incorrectly as an any class can use skill or at least it is in my original skills.2da (tumble is too) when the manual makes mention its a prohibited skill for only a select few classes (UMD that is). Which means that if it isnt listed in the CLS_SKILL 2da for a specific class it defaults to rankable skill (either trained or untrained) and can have ranks stuck in it rather than being a red highlighted prohibited skill, if I remeber how that works correctly.

(The CLS_SKILL 2das should have all aviable skills listed in them any way with the correct flags set to avoid situations like that... why they arent/wherent I dont know, i think it was a left over from NWN1 from when the AnyclassCanUse entry was added to the Skills.2da), but that still doesnt really explain your problem, or at least not what i can see.

What racial bonus feats do these Minotaur get?, maybe the race is looking up a racial feat table its not supposed to which might give the Able learner feat? (which doesnt make prohibited skills non-class skills)... shot in the dark but might get you in the right direction. Although looking at the Grey Orc entry (I dont have SoZ) on NWN2wiki it doesnt appear they get that feat... so a left over from replacing the Grey Orc in RacialTypes or SubRacialTypes 2da entry probably isnt the issue most likely, unless theres been a mix up with Feat ID numbers on your end.

Or its those pesky Cosmopolitan feat entries?... although none of them even refrence the right feat ids to begin with.

Hi BigfootNZ,

Thank you very much for the hint, but no, both skills.2da and cls_skill_XXX.2da are ok. Also, the racial bonus feats are working fine (our minotaurs receive several custom feats even).

Playing a bit more with the character creator, our players have noticed that problems of this kind arise sometimes (we can not always reproduce it) when you follow this steps:

- Connect to the world and let ADL finish

- Enter in the character SELECTION screen, look around a bit and press CANCEL to go to the character CREATOR

- Then create a character and you see weird things sometimes (in out case Minotaurs having Tumble skill, Barbarians getting Alert feat for free and Pale Master being accessible as a Base class).

Entering in the character creator directly seems to make it work fine, so I guess there is some kind of glitch in the engine.

I will check it further and come up with a more detailed explanation or fix if I found it,

Ah, yeah could be anything in there then if its intermitant like that... im wondering, could it be certain players with 2das in their override? although given how I think the server stuff works now, along with the fact you can have indirvidual overrides now I dont see how that would be a problem.

Glad its a sometimes problem rather than an always problem, the former are alot easier to work with :P even if they irk you something fierce just knowing their there, hiding and waiting to pop up and say boo :)

Edit:- damn bioware forums and the odd lack of spell checking functionality in the replies box...
