I'm pretty sure a lot of you RPG lovers have played The Witcher as well, and found its likes and dislikes about it.
What I would like to know of you guys though, is which elements of The Witcher you would like to see in Dragon Age 2.

As for me, I really liked the realistic mature aspect of the game. When people badmouthed someone, it was really badmouthing and not just some child friendly calling someone a cheese head. Dirty allys had not only thugs, but prostitutes as well. And some people didn't mind showing some skin here and there.

Other then that I really liked the choice and consequence that happened between chapters (heard it will be implemented in DA II as well, but I would still like to point that one out).

Sometimes choosing lesser evil because there were no good.

Night/Day rotation, with their added effects.

Visually, story and story-telliing wise, yes. Gameplay, no, witcher very bad in that regard.
Dragon Age 2 should use delayed consequences.

I prefered The Witcher over DAO. For one, there's actual consequences for your actions rather than some crappy text.

Also, there's good and bad consequences for every actions and there's never a "right" choice unlike DAO. Every choice is grey while DAO makes every choice look black and white.

I also felt the atmosphere was much better. And using profanity in a game is always a plus in my book.

The Witcher really is a dark mature fantasy, while DAO simply isn't at all dark IMO.

In the Witcher there was a voiced protagonist and the lines you chose and what Geralt said were basically the same and I never had any problems with the dialogue system. In ME what you chose and what Shepard said was sometimes totally different which was really annoying and now they're using the same system in DA2 ... sure the icons will help, but probably not enough.

That's a good point, Geralt has an actual plot point excuse for sounding like a generic uninteresting character. Shepard is just master chief without a helmet, he's so boring you might as well not bother with a voiced personal character.

How can anyone compare two games where one is already out and the other game is out in around 7 months?

You can't, can only compare it to DA:O

I'm not asking about comparisments, I'm asking about what you would like too see from 1 game, in the other.
And here i thought I was quite clear about that.

It's an arrow, not a greater than symbol :]

Overall, the one thing that really set TW apart of other games for me was the atmosphere. The thematic, the visuals, the music painted a pretty dark picture, that was actually worthy of being called dark fantasy. 99% of DAO didn't really feel "dark" at all.

I wish I could have given the Witcher the chance that it deserves but the combat mechanics were so totally horrendous for me I just have never gotten far after about 3 do over attempts.

Anything from The Witcher would be cool. Except the combat. Horrible combat.

Anything? Even the sex cards?

Don't get me wrong, I collected all the sex cards too. I just felt kind of ashamed of myself for doing it :?

The sex cards were sort of cool.
Certainly better than the leaking oil eye's romance scenes in Mass Effect 2 or the sticky head on same bodies of Dragon Age.

Obviously The Witcher wasn't known for having a smooth combat system. I hated it too, but the game was still enjoyable. The atmosphere though, had an incredible amount of detail - there were more villagers/civilians active and roaming (not just standing there), small animals, and of course dynamic weather/time effects. But I won't mind of DA2 doesn't reach that same level of detail - it's not a dealbreaker for me.

Sex Cards were awesome! What was disappointing was that the sex scenes were blurred out.

Ha, me too. But yeah, they were awful. Origins did a pretty good job of not being horrendously sexist, I wouldn't like to see that aspect of The Witcher in DA2. Apart from that I agree with what's been said: the storytelling was good, but not the combat.

Wouldn't bother me any. Gotta' catche 'em all! ;)
Heh, I'm sure it would bother some others though.

I didn't appreciate the Witcher's crapsack world. Making everyone irredemable makes as shallow a game as making everyone heroic. I think Bioware should borrow from the Witcher the meatier choices, though, which is to say I think that they sometimes cheat by giving you a winning option (i.e. Connner). But the false dillema in chapter choices that just always followed in the Witcher becamed contrived fast, like in Alpha Protocol.

What's wrong with being able to win one in a while if you put in the effort for it? I'd probably like it less not more if none of my options ever allowed me to reach an overall good solution.

The sex cards are harmless. If they ever do a female witcher, male 'trophies' would even out the perceived sexism. Make it a witcher thing - they're horny as hell.

I was more surprised with the Princess saying the dreaded 'C word'. She sounded good, btw.

Well, or, perhaps, you can compare it to The Witcher 2 too! lol

Totally different games, game engines, approach to combat, talents development, factions, in-game minigames, fixed main character, Apart from the game engine, The Witcher has a lot more in common and comparable to the Gothics and that is the one true best ever for me.

Where you can dive, swim, climb, jump, forge your own stuff, brew your own potions, sleep, roast meat, steal, knock out people or rob them blindly, a wole lot more and join different factions and need teachers to train and spend your level up points, to make the best of the game system and of the most fun combat system in a game where not only you need to train but you need to be skilled as your char to survive, not only rely on the engine itself and lucky dice rolls. Anyone who fought a G1 or G2 skeleton knows what I'm talking about. Best Orcs and Skeletons in any game. And with a pretty good story too, unlike the equivalent TES4.

All that in a full 3D open world and not a 2D plane with invisible walls everywhere. Of course voice acting is a lot better here since the budget is/was enourmously bigger than a small German devs house could ever dream. I can only imagine what PB would do with a budget like BW's. Can't wait for Risen 2.

I had this problem in assassins creed 2.  Couldn't get past the timed running after the brother.  A guy my husband works with had the same problem.  Sounds like I won't bother with the witcher.  I'll stick with games I don't want to throw across the room.

Heh... Does the U.S. got them uncensored? They might not know why you felt ashamed.:P

And Witchers are like that Michel archangel that Travolta played a while ago. Women can't resist them plus they are sterile, making the whole funk-for-fun a lot more appealing. Unlike with Dandelion whom they all expect to marry with!
