There is officially no longer any need for the 'fight for the love' thread.

I hate to ask it here and potentially be off topic, but I need help in The Witcher. I'm at the very end of Chapter II, but I've accused Kalkstein, so how do I lure him into the swamp?
also, This:
it's great that they'll support importing from the first game.

Find all of the Sephirot stones - so you'll be doing a lot of quests and swamprunning. If you've got 9 of them, the very last one will be given to you by Raymond. Then you can get to the tower to unlock it after inserting the sephirot stones into their respective altars around the swamp.
But yes if you do get into the cemetary, you will find something important about Raymond.

I tried really hard to stick with the witcher but the combat didn't sit right with me. I felt it was trying to be a hybrid action/rpg and just never grabbed the best qualities from either. I've installed and tried playing 3 or 4 times and I simply end up uninstalling it every time. Admittedly the story elements and atmosphere were pretty cool but not enough to redeem it since combat and gameplay factor heavily into my choices for games.
I will admit I'll be keeping an eye on witcher 2 though along with DA2 since I've heard good things.
I'd say, try it with the Isometric camera first. It will be NWN2 revamped and you fell more familiar with it I guess. It was way more enjoyable for me on my first runs than the OTS shoulder than only from my 3rd run on became the best because combat was not an learning issue anymore.
Also, on first run, do not play it on Hard Mode or you won't learn the timing for the combat and yes, it will frustrate most players then. On hard mode there's hardly a tip about the timing and with OTS it's even worse. But once you're familiar with the game and system/timing, you'll be surprised.
Perhaps it's just beause of the beautiful acrobatics indeed but still, it's not for all to get them done without a bit of patience and dedication. Like I've said and Kalfear kinda confirmed it, when you get to use your higher level talents combat skills, it's just WOW! (not WoW, pls.)

Hmmm... I remember getting stuck after accusing Kalkstein on my first or second run and I found no solution other than reloading before the autopsy and going a different path then.
But eventually I learned how to proceed with the autopsy and this is what you should aim for: (warning: Spoiler for the very End of Chapter Two)
The Witcher - Busted - HD - Hard Mode combat w/ Advanced Alchemy

To get there, before start with the autopsy, go to the Antiquary and read, read a lot, read all you can, specially about Zerrikania.

You can only enter the Cemetery after the autopsy, unfortunately. And to get it right, you need the autopsy results to point you the right direction. Accusing Kalkstein is likely a game stopper plot hole of some sort. I got stuck there once too. Reload pre-autopsy or pre-accusation at least, if it is possible.

In one of the first posts in this topic, someone said about female witchers. I don't know if anyone else has answered this, but this would be impossible, because mutations and trials are designed for males, and even though they usually die - females would probably have no chance at all to survive this.

Hmm... for a non-native English speaker and non-Polish as well, the engglish VA seems pretty decent. In the EE of course.
@Kalfear: Problem with walktroughs is that they just point the "best" path and nowhere in it we will find how to convince Kalkstein to go to the swamp if we accused him because it is a very bad decision, even if very normal in-game decision, because, at least for me, it was a game stopper one.

The only video you need to watch to get hooked intto TW2 is the trailer, which sets up the story and leaves you with a cliffhanger:

In the third book Triss also tells the Witchers that just the first stage of making a witcher involves so many alterations in hormone levels that a pre-teen female wouldn´t develop properly as female.
About that, one company they had contacted as distributor told them they would if they changed Geralt into a female elf as this was what most people liked to play with. I guess it was not EA as you can´t even play as an elf in DA2.

Different games, this is all about tastes...
The Witcher has a more dark story and grim world which you have to contend with. The developers main achievement was not to destroy Sapkowskis work -the Witcher is a character of many novels and short stories-, but to build the game around it.
That being said, the protagonist (Geralt of Rivia) is one of the most interesting characters I played in years (perhaps ever). The music is brilliant and the cinematics are great. Theres a feelling of an "open world" alive and diverse, which DAO definetely hasnt got.
The choices are also more challenging, because threre are at least two disctintive main plot lines that you can follow throughot the story, while in DAO who have just one, with 6 possible prologues.
The combat is the weakest element, too repetitive, but its not "crap" either, like some perhaps have suggested...
The great point of DAO for me is the dialog and personality of some NPCs and companions, that is truly brilliant. In the Witcher, besides Geralt, you wont find many complex characters; they are more caricatures than real people, some exceptions noted, ie. Geralts main two love interests.
You should definetely give it a try. For the money involved now, Id say its a bargain.
