The real world approaches casual sex just the same, why would I be disturbed?

No you're not the only one. I found romance, like most of the game, to have been played out like a 13 year old boys fantasy. Sex, violence, and foul language does not equal mature.

Most mature rated games of today require the mental capacity of a 12 year old to play.

Personally I think you guys should just get over yourselves. Games with this rating shouldn't be played by anyone under 18, and anyone 18 or older that isn't mature enough to separate fantasy from real life has video games as the least of his worries.
Alternatively the trophies could be drugs, money, or the heads of your enemies. Similar things have been done in other mature rated games. Would that be better or worse?

I have to agree with you. I'm still trying to force myself to play it, but that timed mechanic and the camera control is awful. However, I read that Witcher 2 fixes all that.

I had to play The Witcher with the Isonomic View for 2 full playthoughs (looks and feels very much like NWN/NWN2) before I got used to the game. After that, playing it in Hard settings and with OTS camera became real fun.

I only wish that Bioware give us some much better looking armor than we had in DA:O. Excluding the Sentinel set.

And this is one hell of a pre-set character in a game that is better than DA and TW together! When you get into his skin I swear you can taste the salty sea water and smell the fish scent, among zillion other things. Talk about imersion! And he is a hell of a pre-set character because he is the Nameless Hero. He is whoever you want him to be! and no one will ever give a **** about his name anyway. "Names are not important, it is what you do that matters!"

And this is what a Mage Armor should look like, IMHO!

I thought it was the underlying theme of attempted genocide that gave the game an element of maturity, rather than the more gratuitous aspects. And while the sex cards/romance were NOT the game's strong point (though I admit to a fondness for Shani), sex, violence and swearing don't necessarily make something immature, either, imo. Eh, I wouldn't actually like to see DA2 resemble 'The Witcher' - they are each their own franchise, with an atmosphere unique to each. That said, I still thought TW was a good game, and I'm definitely not a 13 year old boy.

You should take a look at the Two Worlds 2 armour, Best I've seen so far in games.

And to stay on topic, the Thing I also liked about TW was the mini game Poker Dice. I hope DA2 will have some kind of mini game as well, Final Fantasy Style mini card game anyone :P?

My problem isn't that they exist but that they're done in a very poor fashion. People in the game will have unrealistic sex with you, some times even has a reward for a quest. How many of you women out there felt like ****ing the bag boy beacuse he help you to your car? I'm guessing not many. As well they felt the need to put in tons of asses, ****s, ****s, ****s, and things a long that line in places they just didn't belong. Half the time when someone would use that language it didn't feel natural to the character, it felt forced, or even worse like the only reason for them to use it was because they're a 9 year old kid and mommy isn't around to hear.

edit: It seems I really need a spell check for these forums. =(

In my opinion they did it in a good and realistic fasion, not forced at all.
It all felt natural, and even logic, since they were all acting to their role.

Well that's a fair criticism. I don't quite fully agree with it, but it is fair.

So true!

Now, what is really curious about The Witcher is that it's got approval to be released in Australia, despite the whole Prostitution and the Fistech addiction - *snores* - while Risen got banned from Australia because it has a Brothel and people can smoke "Swampweed" and gain a little experience points the first few times they do it.

"The problem is the name of the drug and that it benefits the user" I've read somewhere. But the fact is that "Swampweed" might very well just be like a kind of tobacco and Fistech causes not only a member of the Law to go corrupt but it also interrupts the effects of alcoholic intoxication, which is a very positive effect in The Witcher. Those who ever got drunk in the game knows it's true!

I wonder what makes Dragon Age anywhere near those games to have the same rating. I mean, Spartacus "Blood and Sand" is rated M17 on the telly isn't it? Dragon Age is really a 13 game, compared to that! Or to the Witcher/Risen/Gothic

I fall into the category of those that disliked the Witcher, one of the many reasons why I disliked it being the above.  There were some merits to the game, but ultimately not enough that makes it a game I can even bring myself to view as mediocre.   I thought ME2 was a better game than Witcher, and for me to say that is saying a lot.

The only common thing in Mass Effect 2 and The Witcher is the BioWare logo on the box.

Funny story about Spartacus. The only thing that has ever been prevented from appearing on that show is a scene in which Spartacus bites out the neck of a guy during a gladiator fight. That should be a finishing move in DA:2.

Well, consider the age when the story takes place. They would burn someone in a stake for pure prejudice. In real world, at that stage of history, was it that much different?

You guys act like permiscuity isn't wide spread. The situational aspects of the cards were not entirely natural feeling at times, true, but any one person could probably as easily sleep with that many women with enough effort.

Night and day rotation would be amazing

Oh no please !!!
I really hate this kind of situation:

Day: Quest  -> A merchant asks you to kill that monster. Pity: the monster come out only during the night.. OK, let's find a place to meditate, wait for the night to come

Night: you kill the monster, now you have to come back for the reward: Pity. The merchant is not present during the night. OK, let's find a place to meditate, wait for the day to come

Day: You get the reward, and a new quest.. "He asks you to meet a person DURING THE NIGHT"

....and so on

A lot of annoying trekking and a lot  time wasted just to switch continually day and night depending on your needs.. Totally stressful

Casual sex in TW is a reflection of Geralt's character as portrayed in the novels. Some of it was hilarious, the way women threw themselves at him, as if by default. I really got the sense the devs weren't taking this aspect of the game too seriously.

                                                                **********Spoiler alert************

All I have to say on the matter is this: Toruvial's proposal to Geralt as Old Vizima is burning down around them pretty much sums it up. And it's the funniest line of dialog I've ever heard in a game.

Eh, with these games I'm always going to err on the side of dismissing the "historical" argument. It's fantasy and fiction. That means the mindset of the world is whatever the authors say it is. They are the gods of that world.
