Hey, nobody's forcing you to do that stuff even if you play the game. Except maybe once or twice, now that I think about it.

If the possibility of promiscuity presents itself in a game, wouldn't that give even more value for the player who declines that path? It's a moral choice you take, just like in real life.

I've tried to play TW, twice, but stopped both times after a few hours. It's not only that I didn't like Geralt and his looks (and I'm stuck playing this abomination...) - and a fine example how a pre set and predefined character can ruin a whole game for one, the whole combat system was annoying. As strange as it sounds, I wanted to like The Witcher, but it's not my game, not my hero, not my setting.
If anything, I appreciate it for it's unique and mature take at a fantasy RPG, but I'd rather wish DA2 will stay clear of most TW influences.

same .. i tryed it 2 time and each time i just stop and erease the game. It's always happenned inside the marsh thing..Very annoying and confusing.

Eh, with these games I'm always going to err on the side of dismissing the "historical" argument. It's fantasy and fiction. That means the mindset of the world is whatever the authors say it is. They are the gods of that world.

You guys act like permiscuity isn't wide spread. The situational aspects of the cards were not entirely natural feeling at times, true, but any one person could probably as easily sleep with that many women with enough effort.

I hope you can see the contradiction.

Anyway, there are many awesome things in The Witcher that might fit in Dragon Age, specially some quest construction. That authopsy thing really surprised me on a second run when I found a whole different outcome and I felt really cheated in the first run! Cheated by my ingenuity that led me to rush to conclusion and convict an innocent!

And day/night cicly was pretty good too. There were plenty things to do to pass time. Just because you got a quest, it doesn't mean that you need to start working on it right away. Just because you completed a quest, it doesn't mean you must go for your reward right away.

The best ones in Dragon Age, imho, are those that I actually had to carry open through the game before I could reach the quest conclusion. And DA:O is rich in those.

The Witcher was an excellent RPG (it's a testament to how good it is that even I liked it even if it featured a non-customizable main character with a fixed personality and no party members at all, which are usually no-nos for me), but I don't feel it was "more mature" than DAO. Although I enjoyed collecting the sex cards Image IPB in the various special... er, sidequests, this attitude towards sex and romance was juvenile in the extreme (albeit entertaining Image IPB). And the feud between humans and non humans, while intriguing, wasn't more complex than many of the conflicts and choices in DAO, IMHO.

The choices/consequences stuff was also well done... although it really didn't have as much impact on the last part and on the ending of the game as I thought it was going to have.

I was referring to the attitude of this thread, not the game itself.

That is quite frankly a ludicrous idea. I'm all for maturity in entertainment - especially kids' entertainment - but there is a line. But good job on labeling me because of my opinions about a video game.

Eh,the whole choosing your side thing and the consequences thing coming with it was pretty cool in the witcher, but other than that I really wouldnt want them taking much if anything from TW as it felt pretty superficial compared to DAO :?.

Come to think of it, a sex card in DA2 ( just one ) would be a great jab at CD Projekt red.

Hehe, touche. Still, the world view is what the authors say it is. In this case, women throw themselves at guys that rescue them. Or do them small favors. Or just... give them a flower. Yeah...

I didn't label you. You did. I just went along with it. Anyway, there's things on regular broadcast television, especially the regular nightly news, that make games like The Witcher seem tame in comparison. Your argument for drawing a line in a video game is what's ludicrous when you stop and really think about what people have easy access to on a daily basis.

Let me guess, you both went right away for the OTS camera, didn't you? And Hard diff in first run? It is a very different gameplay if you try it with the Isonomic view, imho. And Normal diff too.

I really hated The Witcher the first five minutes I played it until I switched camera mode and restarted in Normal mode. Then I could really enjoyed it and when I finally was pretty good with the game I could try Hard and OTS and it was very enjoyable. (it does say Hard is to be played by "advanced players" while Normal, by "most gamers" and Easy by novice players - clearly, " advanced players in TW, for me, means experience with the game - pretty much like NM in DA:O)

After the mass effect alien sideboob controversy, no North American company has the balls for any serious mature content in their games. Only the European ones dont give a crap, man in Europe they sell porn magazines out in the streets where children can see them, its pretty awesome

In today's news, the rape of a local woman was prevented as a wondering vigilante left the would be attacters dead on the side of the road. The local woman reportedly repaid her rescuer by taking him behind the old mill house. More at 11.

My problem isn't that they exist but that they're done in a very poor fashion. People in the game will have unrealistic sex with you, some times even has a reward for a quest. How many of you womenout there felt like ****ing the bag boy beacuse he help you to your car? I'm guessing not many. As well the they felt the need to put in tons of asses, ****s, ****s, ****s, and things a long that line in places they just didn't belong. Half the time when someone would use that language it didn't feel natural to the character, it felt forced, or even worse like the only reason for them use it was because they're a 9 year old kid and mommy isn't around to hear.

I fall into the category of those that disliked the Witcher, one of the many reasons why I disliked it being the above.  There were some merits to the game, but ultimately not enough that makes it a game I can even bring myself to view as mediocre.   I thought ME2 was a better game than Witcher, and for me to say that is saying a lot.

I consider The Witcher a horrible piece of ****, boring and frustrating. However, I must admit that some elements were good:

1) Dialogue system.

2) Creatures design.

We even have radio comercials about erotic shops during clear daytime.

I guess the place you live at will play a role on how you take "mature" stuff in games.

And illegal! It's always been. But that never prevented me from getting my hands in a Playboy magazine when I was 13 and really, it didn't affected me much. Starting my sex life at 15 made a whole lot more difference.. hehe. I am much much older now and married for the past 17 years to the same woman so I think I'm not that screwed up.

I'm not surprised that lots of comments on my videos, by people that allegedly played the game (and know it well because of that) are made by underaged kids. At least their age on their YouTube own channel says so.
