I have been a console gamer for a number of years now but am wanting to switch to PC gaming in light of cool games out and upcoming, Mass Effect 2 and The Old Republic to name two. I will post my current system specs and would be grateful for any help given because I literally have no experience doing this, whether it's a new graphics card I need or a whole new computer. Prefferably kept under £150 please if possible but if not then I'll save.

Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2ghz
2GB RAM
Intel 946GZ Express Chipset Family (I know, it's terrible)
256MB graphics memory
Windows Vista

If any other information is needed just let me know.
Thanks.

Try upgrading your RAM to 4GB first.

A 5750 would be the best you can get before you run into a serious bottleneck from the CPU.

The 5750 won't overheat or kill my computer because it sounds pretty high-end for what I thought I could get? Do I need 4GB or would 2GB suffice. Thanks.

it wont overheat your computer

the most important thing is: what is your power supply for the computer ?

to do that you would have to remove left side of your computers case and take an exact look at the quite exposed side of your power supply

Agree with first reply, you really need to upgrade your ram to 4gb at a minimum. Vista tends to eat the first 2gb's all by itself.
