Closure?
You realise we're currently in part two of a three part story? I'd wait until the credits for Mass Effect 3 roll before you start whinging about closure.
There's obviously something in the works for Kaidan/Ashley, which will either play out in an unannounced DLC or ME3.
I'm saying some closure, not complete closure. We've received some closure on the Shadow Broker issue, but if you've played the DLC, then the outcome keeps stuff open for ME3. This is all some fans want for ME2 DLC.
Hopefully, BW is planning an epic return for Ashley and Kaidan in ME3. But we're hoping some of their storyline can be transferred over to DLC, and we're hoping that it's not a rushed production--LotSB was an excellent piece of work, and we want to see that same high-quality for Kaidan/Ashley DLC.
These threads are good though, as long as BW does read them.
LotSB proved they can do quality post-release work and satisfy the unwashed masses....so I see no reason why they couldn't spend some time on a survivor's DLC. A little bit of new art assets, some new written story. They are working in the Unreal 3 engine (their version of it) so the tools are already in place. I don't think it's a question of time, but of money. Do they think it will be financially viable to release a good expansion pack featuring Ashley/Kaidan. If we tell them it will sell, I bet they will, but our argument has to be convincing.
Here's my take on it:
1) People would probably love a DLC that features Anderson, Hackett, and some sort of Alliance vs Cerberus DLC.
2) Ashley and Kaidan are high-up soldiers in the Alliance, and Anderson knows who they are.
3) After LotSB, people are raving about how awesome it is; BioWare has set a new standard for themselves, and fans want more DLC of this kind.
4) Many fans have been waiting 3 years for Ashley and Kaidan to return, and all we got was a cameo on Horizon that left on bad terms, and didn't present Ashley and Kaidan as foils of each other; they were blended into the same character, when they are foils of each other in ME1.
5) Include Ashley and Kaidan in that DLC, made with the same care as LotSB, and I'm sure a lot of people will be happy.
There were new character voices in LotSB. How much effort did that take to write the characters and find new VAs? To write all that dialogue, for Shepard, Liara...the new characters?
I think it would make MUCH more sense to reintroduce characters that people love and want to see, but who have been very neglected. Their characters have already been established, the VAs are already established. Of course it's economically feasible.
Heck, if BioWare makes DLC with as high-quality character development, dialogue, cinematics, and music as LotSB, I'm sure a lot of people will be intrigued. And who knows, it might turn around some of those people who are ambivalent to those characters. I know I was ambivalent toward Liara, but the DLC looked really awesome, and now I appreciate Liara more as a character because the developers really worked hard on her character development.
EDIT: added more depth to my argument.
