I apologize if this issue has been beaten to death. I've done a bit of research and it looks like the last patch was supposed to fix most of the crashing and performance issues - nonetheless, mine still continue as follows:

My game periodically freezes during game play. Not every 20 minutes, more like every 20 seconds. Sometimes every 5 or 10 seconds. The freezes last 1-4 seconds and are at their worst in crowded battles. Sometimes I can play for 10 or 15 minutes before this starts, sometimes it starts immediately. This is much worse than your standard chopping when the hardware can't handle itself. I have the newest system patch and DA patch. I do not have Awakening. I have tried forcing the PS3 to render 480P, and I've tried 720P. No other game behaves this way. Note that my game never crashes, it just freezes and unfreezes.

Is this still a known issue among some users? Is it possible the upcoming patch will fix this problem? If this forum is monitored by Bioware, I would be willing to try anything to give more info. I really like the game - I just want to be able to play it :)

Thanks guys,
Eric

I never had this issue playing through Origins three times yet I have noticed since purchasing Awakening I get alot of lag spikes and slow downs. I have yet to have the game completely crash but the way the performance has been going I have to say, I am somewhat frightened it will crash at a worst possible moment.

We have multiple PS3s in my apartment and this issue does not happen on the other one. Just mine - which is weird. Both of them have the same specs, were purchased at the same time, and have all the same patches applied. However, I don't see how it could be the PS3 because every other game runs smooth as silk. It is very odd.

It isn't just spikes and slowdowns though - I would be able to deal with that. Its literally the game freezing completely for 2-4 seconds at a time and then running smoothly for 10 seconds, and then freezing for 2. It makes a very enjoyable game almost unplayable.

I recently uninstalled the game and repatched it.

Prior to me doing this I had no issue at all what so ever other than when Sony did firmware update 3.3 which cause many systems to freeze. After the last patch my system was back to normal.

Since I uninstalled and reinstalled the game I have noticed a ton of issues that I never experienced before.

We all just need to get after Sony and Bioware to get the newest patch to this game certified and running properly on the PS3. I would hate for the patch to be certified and released only to see the issues that XBox 360 owners experience, but at the same time I don't want to wait 2-3 months for the patch like we did with RtO.
