Hey guys,

Thanks for all the feedback and testing on this issue. I'll take a look into this throughout the day.

It is really great to see devs responding to possible bugs so fast! Lots of cudos to those of you that take your time on the forums. Less cudos to those who should have noticed these bugs prior to release however..

Its a shame, then, that we are one and the same.... So do your congradulations and condemnations cancel each other out? :)

Here is a condemnation for you....I think you testers did a terrible job, I personally have seen quite a few blatant glitches which I can't understand how they made it live, and I don't test games for a living.

Mind telling us if you are ever going to patch Xbox to fix the dagger-dexterity problem like you did for the PC users?

EDIT:
I can verify that they heal different characters for different amounts, so there's some sort of variable used here that's not static from character to character. I'm assuming that it's healing them for a % of max health and that's what's providing the differences.

Magic: Magic determines a mage's spellpower which
governs a spell's effect (including damage). This is a mage's most
important attribute. A high magic score will be needed to wield certain
high-level staves and spells. For all classes, magic can increase the
effectiveness of potions, poultices, and salves.
It also contributes to
a character's mental resistance.

you're correct. I'd forgotten aobut that, I'm gonna run back and see if any of my characters have the same Magic score and different max healths to retest this :)

Seems like there are a lot of bugs that individually, don't add *that* much to the game's difficulty, but combined...cause all sorts of balancing issues based on what attributes the player should have for a given measured difficulty.

Yeah, I love the game and certainly applaud the work you guys have put into it. I think the best praise I can give you is this. I had Modern Warfare 2 pre-ordered and didn't even feel like going to pick it up on the release day to play it. This is shaping up to be one of my favorite games.

The minor bugs and quirks that made it through are just annoying though. Some I don't understand how they made it out...like the dex thing or equipping Templar armor on a female elf results in some odd things(armor appears backwards, arms flailed open, and boots pointed backwards). Warden Commander armor also appears without the appropriate textures on a female elf.

Dunno if this happens for everyone.

This thread needs to be bumped constantly until some finds a way to hotfix it or we get a patch. This is a huge deal imo

Especially for those playing nightmare. I cant see the tank surviving in long battles withouth the help of about +25% health received.

Agreed. It especially gimps tanks.

I'm still waiting on a dex patch for the 360. The aesthetics of the longsword/dagger(more like shortsword actually) combo is awesome...plus there are some amazing daggers.

This explains alot. Ive had up to +60 healing on my tank and it dident seem to do much. I just assumed multiple + healing items dident stack or scaled badly. Anyways i guess im going to test it out for myself now.

Thanks Bioware for keeping up with our bug reports and feedback.

Me as a Rogue, Wynne, Mor, and Sten with a 2-hander.  I had no problems through 2 of the treaties but I was unhappy with my choices for my Rogue and restarted.  Not sure it viable in the end game but so far the startegy of crowd control the crap out of everything seems to be the answer to any question the game has

No offense to the rest of you guys...

But all the doom and gloom "Oh god, my bonus heals stat isn't working! This is unacceptable!" is a bit over the top. Considering the quality of this game, and how incredibly HUGE it is... I really think the additional crying past "Bug discovered, fyi" is a bit... drama-queenish?

And since a dev is sitting in here and there:

Thank you for finally after many years making a game worth sinking so many days of my life into. Keep up the work on DA!

I noticed somebody mentioned Wynne with 40 magic healing Alistair for 54 health. My Morrigan heals Sten the same amount with about 30 magic. How much, exactly, does magic affect the heal spell?

It's hard to tell on the console versions. However, I've 'felt' it was bugged but can't pin it down.

Its not drama-queenish.  There are several obvious bugs that should never have gotten through and this is one of them.  Most people dont even check and just assume that things are working fine.  My first time my tank had close to 70% extra healing because he was so hard to keep up a lot.  Now I know why

I don't test games for a living.

Then you have absolutely no room to "condemn" Bioware for missing just three confirmed bugs.

As a professional software programmer, I have some insight into the massive undertaking these people experience in developing a game. It is truly amazing and a testament to the quality of the Bioware development team and testers that, considering the myriad number of system configurations that the game is run on and the number of people who have been playing the game just one week after release, only three issues have been found.

Way to go, Bioware!

Anyone complaining about getting the Xbox/PS3 versions patched needs to consider that to get a patch issued, BioWare has to talk to Microsoft and to okay the use of bandwidth on their systems and all in order to patch their game, as well as all sorts of other loopholes i'm sure to make the patch free.

Really, if you're going to buy a game on day one, you need to expect that there's going to be some bugs/glitches in it that didn't get caught by the testers. The fact of it is just that a game usually only has 10-100 testers working on it, and they probably work on so many different builds of the game and for only x amount of time that they aren't going to notice a lot of small details. Consider now that you have probably around 500,000-1,000,000 people playing the game, some of which have already somehow managed to put in 100+ hours in about a week (seriously, how do you manage that with jobs, school, etc.?) and a lot of these minor details are going to get noticed now.

Honestly, it's probably the best game I've played since Mass Effect, I enjoy it immensely, even with the bugs.

Funny, I have had zero problems with this game whatsoever. Runs and plays like a dream. No "glitches" at all.

wait, they fixed the dagger dex problem for PC users? when did they do that? I never noticed anything, and it says nothing about it in the patch notes (which i must admit i didn't download, hearing all the "the patch stops me from starting up DAO" topics).

Anyway, yeah, hopefully the +healing gets resolved soon (and the dagger thing, if it hasn't been done already).  I know the testers undoubtedly spent a long time on this game, but i do think they could have done a better job.  On the other hand, a year of testing and still a few big bugs make it through, I shudder to think of how many there must have been when you started testing, I think someone needs to smack your programmers upside the head or something.

There was a hot-fix for the dexterity issue.

BUT it makes the game ridiculously unbalanced and MUCH harder. Because it doesn't really FIX dexterity, it simply ups the damage on bows and crossbows and adds the dexterity into certain equations again, which means any encounter you have against enemies who have a lot of archers immediately would become SO much harder considering it doesn't equal out if the number of archers facing you is more than the number of archers you use in your party(which almost always will be true, so it doesn't equal out).

So really, i'm getting tired of Xbox users complaining of the dagger-dexterity issue being "fixed" for PC Users, when it actually isn't.

The official patch is the only thing that's been released, and I have that installed, and haven't encountered any issues using it.
