the interview/article in this post is very interesting:
http://social.biowar...1/index/3298325
I like how they said that the 3 classes will feel different from each other.
However, I'm wondering how this will affect "hybrid specs" ( namely Arcane Warrior ), or if there will be any hybrid specs.
Like, mages and warriors should feel and play differently from each other. But, if you become an AW, will your mage be able to feel and play more like a warrior ( unstoppable killing machine )? Will your mage be able to gain access to warrior talents, combos, finishers, etc.?
How about if you want to make your mage's melee fighting style to be more like the "ninja" rogues? Will there be a rogue/mage hybrid spec?
Ideally, I would like the 3 classes to start out different from each other, just like the article said. Then the player can decide how he/she wants to build his character.
Does the player want to stick strictly to "class lines?" Does the player want to wade into the talents of the other classes?
So....in your opinions, how should they handle hybrid specs, like Arcane Warrior, in DA2?
Can anyone from Bioware please comment, too? Will there even be hybrid specs like Arcane Warrior? Will there be new hybrid specs ( like mage/rogue )?
How will they ( or should they ) handle hybrid specs/classes?

You want something like a battle cleric?

well, I'm not exactly sure what a battle cleric.....lol. but if its a mage type character that can be a fearsome warrior......then yes.
Another example I would give, and this is what I wanted to create in the DAO, would be a "Jedi-type" character. Or, as close to a jedi-type character that I could make within the DA world.
If you think about it....what's a jedi. A jedi is proficient with lightsaber melee attacks. So, a jedi is kind of like a warrior. Or, if the attack style is more "ninja" or agile like, then a jedi could be like a rogue, too.
But, a jedi can also use force powers ( magic in the DA world ). A jedi can fire electricity, can manipulate minds, use telekinesis. All of these are spells in DA. So, that's make a jedi like a mage, as well.
IOW....a jedi would be a warrior/mage, or even rogue/mage, hybrid character.
In DAO, the spec that comes closest to being a jedi is Arcane Warrior. The problem, though, when it comes to melee, AWs basically just auto-attack, as they can't have access to the weapons/warrior talents.
On the warrior side, the Templar and Spirit Warrior specs sound close to a jedi, but they can't access spells.
Now, with the info that's coming out for DA2......how they're saying the classes will play differently, they'll have access to different combos or moves or fighting styles, etc.
If I'm still able to make my Mage an AW, I want to be able to change my fighting style to reflect the "warrior" part of Arcane Warrior. I don't just want to be able to auto-attack. I want to have access to the warrior talents, moves, combos, finishers, etc.
I'd also like for there to be a rogue/mage hybrid spec of some sort.....

Actually that'd be fairly cool, you could do that in DA:O to an extent as well, with a Spirit Healer/Arcane Warrior. Granted, you'd have to wait until Level 14 to start playing your concept, but it was doable.
@lunarknightmage: A battle cleric, as far as I understand it, is a mix of the warrior and priest(healer) class. It's mostly based of the latter, but gets more HP, better armor, and more weapon training in exchange for reduced spellcasting.
But I'd also like to see a blend between warrior and rogue, and maybe rogue and mage. The arcane trickster is a really cool character archetype that'd be a lot of fun to play, especially with telekinesis spells, and the warrior who picked up survival skills and learned to keep out of sight or the duelist who has had formal training but prefers a one-handed weapon, light armor, and nothing in the off hand are cool archetypes that could do with some support too.
I wouldn't give a "hybrid" class access to talents specifically from another class, but I would make them available to both classes they're built off of, so if you want a more stabby arcane warrior, you can start warrior and spec AW to get bonuses to magic resistance and some useful self-buffing spells, maybe ones that encourage lighter armor/decreased fatigue. Otherwise, you still have the option of starting mage and then spec AW to gain the same self-buffing spells and the ability to use MGC instead of STR for armor/weapon requirements. Really, deepening the specializations would solve more than ripping talents off the other class wholesale.

those are really great ideas! especially the arcane trickster one.
Just imagine if you could play as a DW rogue/assassin character, who's very agile, deadly, and "ninja like" in melee combat. But who can also use spells to mess with opponent's minds, telekinesis, spells that truly make you invisble, etc.......Oh, and one who can fry you with lightning just for the fun of it.....lol.
