3) Just wondering what player characters and allies people find most
useful. I'm finding Ardum and Martine extremely helpful, but Ryncath
(or whatever) is a waste of space.
Ryanth?

I thought a party with two mages excelled at battlefield control, and then I figured out the Bard...
- Pinning Shot = Bastard melee units won't be rushing you this month.
- Suppressing Fire = Bastard archers won't be shooting anyone. Also, it's an AoE *and* it lowers attack rating.
- Distraction > Mind Blast / Force Field, since it shuts down anyone for *several* rounds. As long as you don't attack them. (Debuff effects don't seem to break the distraction, mind you.)
- Flaming Weapons + (Improved) Stealth + Backstab works nicely, once you get up close. As does vanilla flanking.
(Although, I never noticed Song Of Valor making a difference. And Aim might as well be a one-round deal for the amount of stamina it gobbles up.)
Anyways, my last playthrough was Mage, Martine and Ryanth on Hard, and - to my surprise - I won all three final Big Fights with no casualties. Good fun, this lovely little appetizer.
