 Anytime I try to start the game, the launcher comes up just fine. But if I go to the configuration or hit play, it'll freeze my whole computer to the point that I have to manually cut it off. I had it updated to 1.04 and all the DLC downloaded (except Leliana's Song, Gifts/Pranks, Awakening). It loaded up fine a few days ago but since last night this is what happens every time. I have some mods installed, not many (all of which worked fine when I loaded it up a few days ago and nothing new has been added since then). I have tried deleting all the mods just in case, but the freezing still occurs. I've also tried installing a completely different game and seeing if that game would play. The other game installed and played just fine so it's not a problem with my disk drive.

I'm using an Asus G73 laptop. My specs can handle this game no problem (I had a G72 and could run this game on max settings without a flaw) and as I said, a few days ago, this wasn't happening. Anyone have any idea how to fix this, it's driving me insane.

You apparently have a corrupted game save and need to isolate it.

I had no saves at all is the thing. I never got around to saving and have no autosaves. I've unistalled and the only way to even install now is to go to the DVD itself and choose the setup.exe file.

If you will go to Start / Run and type in Dxdiag, then press enter, all the driver data will show up, and the sound processor data also. There are tabs at the top for each. I do not try reading complete "Report" forms out of DxDiag, due to my visual correction - the blocks of text all seem to swim together into a blob.

Nothing in there is jumping off the page, but it also isn't shown in a form I recognize, sorry.  The ATI Radeon drivers are at about 10.6 or 10.7 now, and the very newest of them may not work as well in Dragon Age as the 10.1 / 10.3 drivers do.

Ok, after some lookin around, I've learned that if I go into the bin_ship folder I can get access to the config setup and I'm able to get finally play the game if I use the daorigins.exe file. Using the launcher still causes my computer to freeze so I'm not sure how to fix that but now that I'm able to play if I don't use the launcher I'm happy. Thanks for the help though!

i am suddenly having the EXACT same problem. if i use the launcher immediately after i click something when it goes to the screen with morrigan it freezes and i have to manually shut down pc and restart. if i use daorigins.exe fil from bis ship it loads and plays fine. not sure why this started, but it is a lil frsutrating..

ok even after a complete reformat and reinstall of windows and everything the launcher is causing a complete freeze. it worked fine when NOTHING but windows and DAO were installed which leads me to believe it is possibly a windows update or add on that is causing the freeze. hopefully bioware releases a fix for this...

I don't think that any of the official support tech on EA's site are clairvoyant. I know that I am not, so I always need the proper Problem Report form filled in when I try to answer such tech questions (exactly as was the case earlier in this message thread you chose to add a comment to).

i'm having the same problem shabooty has just on a different set up...when the launcher comes up..when you click something as soon as the first screen with morrigan comes up it freezes the entire system. if i use just the daorigins.exe to start the game it runs fine. same with config and anything else in bin ship. when i did a complete wipe, reformat, and reinstall of windows i installed the game with NOTHING but windows installed and all the newest drivers and such and launcher ran fine. once windows started downloading and installing updates and i had my programs reinstalled it started freezing from the launcher again....thus the comment about wondering if it was windows update since the game was patched and all my add ons installed before windows updated....

ok so the launcher for the character creator does the exact same thing...comes up...click play/start...goes to the first screen with morrigan's face..and almost immediately freezes. i have updated all my drivers...uninstalled and reinstalled...and same thing every time. not sure whats causing it, but game and CC are both doing it...
