Couldn't find answers for my particular problem which is severe graphic distortion. I've updated my nvidia 8600gt drivers and then rolled them back to try and fix the problem. I get wide gray or black bars across the screen. It might be a corrupted save file because I can play fine in one character and then when I try to play another character it acts up. I meet or exceed all the requirements. Will the new patch fix this problem?

It isn't a bug, or other people would have it also.  It's some sort of conflict among the driver, the PhysX, Direct3D, and the game, and it's only one of a wide assortment of graphical anomalies that the Geforce 8n00 cards show off here in the two recent Bioware games, and in the now aging NWN2 game, occasionally, as well. 

If an older graphics driver didn't help, work through the next three elements, reinstall PhysX, reinstall Dx9, and test between, and if it's still there, reinstall the game.
