Why is BioWare taking a dump on continuity?

Seriously, why?

They changed the darkspawn to look like undead.
Qunari now has horns and no bronze skin colour.

These are the two first continuity fails I've encountered so far. Why do you do it? If you created darkspawn once, then don't go change it! I hate when continuity changes.

Perhaps you are confusing continuity with Art?

Unless, you are speaking of the Horns which suddenly were there out of God knows who's head (A qunari writer I guess).

They made it so we only know what the ignorant folk of ferelden know, so they can easily leave room for change and say it is because everyone you talk to does not know what they were talking about.

They didn't change them, they're just different versions. In DAO they all looked the same because they didn't have enough budget to make several different versions

Not all Qunari look the same. The ones with horns are "special", and they aren't the same color just like there's different races of humans (white, black, asian etc)

Saying they're screwing continuity is like saying ME2 screwed continuity by introducing the Drell

No I'm not. In the screenshots that shows darkspawn they all look like undead from World of Warcraft, and not like... well, darkspawn!

So that's not changing the continuity, right?  :wizard:

I have an idea, that they look like that BECAUSE the Narrator in the DA2 game describes them so....
They may actually look like anything. If you watch the Sacred Ashes trailer, they are actually green .

Actually the ones without horns are special. Anyways, this explains why ogres have horns so I won't complain.

The ones with horns are seen as having a higher purpose.
Where are the hornless ogres?

hey! That would mean that ONLY Horned Quanri become darkspawn broodmothers....:pinched:

And since they are so rare on Thedas, I would expect the UNHORNED ones to be prominent..!!!

Unless..... Quanri also live in the Deep Roads :P

EDIT: WHY do I always end up being Ninja Gaider'd?

Alternatively, you could say the new darkspawn look more like diseased versions of their original race, whereas the old darkspawn looked like decaying humanoid reptile creatures.

its the other way round. The HornLESS serve a higher purpose. Its just worded wrong in the article. Gaider corrected it later in the Thread on Quanri....

They're not screwing continuity.

Regardless though I still think the 'new' qunari look absolutely stupid.

It's changing artistic continuity, but not narrative continuity. So you are both right, and both wrong :P

Maybe the hornes are in the genes or something. We don't know much about female Qunari and broodmothers.

To be fair, they never said they DIDN'T have horns. They also never said whether all humans, dwarfs and elves don't have horns, tails or wings ... just saying ...

I was more or less being facetious, and the 'tongue sticking out' smiley was meant to indicate - although a change in the art style is a disruption in graphical continuity, no? Not one that bothers me, I have to say, but still .. :)

Now wouldn't that be great? Slap some horns on everyones head and pretend it's always been like that.

I think the new Darkspawn doesn't look as... "creative"? As the old ones. Nor as threatening. Disappointing, really. I think the Darkspanws had a great design and it's a shame that they change it. Say what you will, as I understand it, there are only genlocks, hurlocs, ogres and shrieks because those are born from the different races that are turned into broodmothers. As for the Qunari, we know very little of them.. I don't mind them having horns and whatnot.

It's their IP and they'll do it as they see fit unfortunately. I thought watching the Star Wars prequels was like someone making up **** as he goes along while trying tell a story but you can't complain it to Lucad now can you?
