there is no answer. if there is no apparent answer, how can you say it is true that bioware continues the story?
DEV already said "We want to tell the story from ANOTHER perspective."
The age of dragon stays the same, but different adventure. Different adventure EQUALS to "no continuation of warden story arc in DA2". Period

Wow, that's awesome, that you know exactly what is going to be in a game that won't be out for eight months. Besides there being an import feature, this is all rather ludicrous assumption on its own merit.

And name yourself Jessie Hawke. That's an awesome name.

if a person walks into the bank with a helmet on and a gun in his hand, everyone will assume that you are going to rob a bank isnt it? only someone as ignorant will still be standing thinking that is the town's latest circus show.

it takes basic intelligence to forsee the direction of the game and where it is heading. if you do not understand what i mean, pls go check up diablo 3's history and see how they evolve from primal cartoon artstyle to the current dark theme style.

i did not say i am going to be called jessie hawke. if that assumption of yours is true,
i bet your name in real life will be thomas linda or sandra mike. lol

your avatar says a lot about yourself really.

Um, Hawke is a last name. It is, in fact, Hawke's last name. You know, like Aeducan, Cousland, Mahariel, Surana...

taking on a sirname is fine.

giving an identity to the protagonist is also fine.

the FOCUS is, in DA2, there is only 1 choice. --> Hawke

I hope that that it says to them that I am fun and fancy free.

Oh, and that I just don't give a *radio edit*.

Because that's sorta what I'm going for.

Is not having the ability to pick your race REALLY that much of a problem? And I take it that you dropped all of your other complaints now that you've been proven wrong, only don't care to acknowledge that you've been proven wrong.

lack of ability to pick a race is a huge letdown for many people, especially as it was possible in DA1

its when you change the look of the world they played in-imagine their blond dwarf suddenly getting purple hair, or learning that humans have cat's eyes.

Sorry, but I consider that a specious argument. No-one's talking about giving dwarves purple hair or humans cat eyes or elves butterfly wings. Those are races with an established expectation for how they look, and one of the reasons we used elves and dwarves, for instance, is drawing on the pool of collected lore regarding them.

The qunari and the darkspawn, however, are our creation-- one you have had limited exposure to, at best. Making superficial changes to how we present them is not the same as presenting elves with monkey heads, and suggesting such is not going to fool anyone-- least of all us.

I understand of course that the "purple hair"-argument is an exaggeration, but didn't you actually speak of changes to the already "established" races too, such as the dwarves, elves, etc.? Sorry if I've simply misunderstood you... Image IPB

proven wrong of what?

[your avatar says a lot about yourself really] <-- your avatar face is fun and fancy free.

i do not have to elaborate further to personally insult you because that's not the point of why i am posting.

i did not drop all of the other compaint. i am not a troll 24hr constantly logged in here with nothing better to do. i have to work in my office handling architectural projects as of now and the past few hours.

my other compaint still stands. just that you are particularly targeting 2 of the points i have made in my post.
And yes to joriandrake. totally agree with u. thumbs up.

it happens not only to the race but many other aspects of the game.

.  And now, for all the promise of a "sequel" we're getting something that's akin to having bought an original painting done by an artist we enjoy and appriciate, but being told that any new pieces by this artist will not be produced, and only knockoffs sold in hotel conference rooms as "art" will be avaliable.  No thanks.

Or maybe the artist just decided to switch from realism to cubism. Shocking, I know.

So there's some law somewhere that says I must support said hypothetical artist, even if they make a radical change to their output that I no longer enjoy?  And I'm just supposed to go "Oh well, those things I really liked that you used to make, guess we won't have any more of those!" and just be smiles and grins about it?

Don't think so.

They were different because of Computer technology improved. Not because they switch as they felt like it.
DA2 changed because "Bioware FELT like it" you dont get the why, but you get the answer stuffed right into
your mouth

no story continuation,

Answer to the architect?
Answer to alister after becoming the king?
Answer to everything?

there is a difference in playing AS a warden because warden is a vocation.
Hawke is someone else's name and we are not playing his/her job but we are actually playing as someone who is name hawke.

Warden is a job. hawke is a refugee.
Warden can be blood mage or noble. Hawke is a refugee from lothering.
You are not comparing apple to apple. Bioware is not comparing apple to apple.

Hawke: The protagonist who had escaped from Lothering to become champion of Kirkwall in the Free Marches

i will, anytime, play any race, and BEING a champion of kirkwall and call myself Jessie and not an idiotic name call hawke.

In DAO i got that freedom.

Gotta agree with all this, with the addition of Bioware's arrogance on these issues.  We know nothing?  We know PLENTY which you've already told us.  We're just supposed to sit quietly and consume like good consumers?  Don't think so.

I want to point out that Bioware hinted at atleast one more expansion in which the story and decisions of the Warden will have a proper outcome/ending

No, you can choose not to buy like a smart consumer, but I guess that won't happen. The vast majority of complainers will probably buy DA2 anyway.

Although a tad overly blunt perhaps I do agree with the original poster in regards to taking a hit to continuity by the radical change in the things he mentioned. If you play the two games and back away and look at these creatures you are going to say 'This is a DA1 ogre and this is a DA2 ogre' you are not going to say this is an Ogre from thedas/fereldan. From my point of view the motivation for change will shape how I view the change at times as well. If a sufficient case or back story can be made for the changes that I find a bit believable fine. If I end up thinking that a graphics artist just said, 'hey I am going to make these cooler' and am told to just accept it I'm less apt to be happy about it.

In the end it is not a massive problem as after a play through a person will be used to the new art but for a game that prides itself on story, history and continuity it makes one wonder about who is telling who what to do?

(I'd prefer the designers and story tellers tell the artists what to make and not the other way around.)

is there any official evidence? I can`t wait for the upcoming DLC on 10. August, but that is truly no proper ending for our warden.

Let's not fall into the trap of the oracle, let us first see what developers still confirm about the game, have it get released, then watch the actual sale stats

eh,  browse around, it is here in the forums somewhere, most of the developer comments on the game don't come from news articles but are spread across the forum :?

Just a little heads up, when you make a claim you should make sure you have you're sources ready to back you up. I frequent these forums quite a bit and never heard of any confirmation of another expansion, just more DLC that might involve your Warden.

...wait a sec, you did this already before with me no?

You didn't believe me said the exact same sentence then someone else came and linked what I claimed and proven it to you

If you are truly interested in the answer go and find it for yourself instead of complaining about evidence, this is not a damn court and you aren't an ace attorney
