Having an odd issue with textures in the toolset. sometimes textures show up pure white and blank, other times they are incredibly shiny. specifically skin textures on NPCs. here is an example:

as you can see, this is far shinier than it should be.

full-brightness and real-lighting has no effect.updated graphics card drivers, no effect. character light occlusion and shadow radius has no effect.

this just started happening. it's quite random, but seems to always happen now. i dont have any artifacting in games, DAO or others, and the shinyness and loss of texture doesn't happen in DAO or DAA either..it's just the toolset (as far as i can tell, see i don't particularly play the game much anymore but i did do a quickie test and nothing was the matter.) worried it may be my graphics card but i can't see any problems outside the toolset so it's odd.

Any ideas?
// suggested that i repost here. I realize it may not be a toolset issue though, but what can i do but ask. <_<

I tried uninstalling the toolset. no luck. still, i see no indication of video card or hardware failure in any other application whatsoever. anyone ever encounter anything like this?

The toolset seems to use rendering engine which isn't the exact copy of what is used by the regular game. For example, it can be much more sensitive to format of the .dds textures. So it may be caused by say, some customized textures in the override folder which the Toolset has trouble parsing.

Does it also happen if you launch the Toolset with both the add-ins and the override directories empty? And is that in all scenes, or in ones with heavy load like the wedding scenes? As it could possibly be side-effect of the engine running out of texture memory or whatever...

hey tmp, thanks for the ideas. i was thinking it could be some weird issue with the textures too. this only started happening a few days ago and for the life of me, i can't think of anything i've changed.

but nope, still happens. =/

i removed everything from the override folders and the addins, and reset all my toolset options to default. still, nothing. it happens even in brand new scenes with just an area and a single NPC. =/

guess i should get another video card... i dunno what else could cause such artifacting.
