Others may have posted or noticed this... if so, I apologize for repeating...
Anyone take Dog along to kill dragons?  I built a party of Leliana, Wynne, the Warden (rogue) and Dog to head off to Denerim to earn some gold, then changed my mind and went after Flemeth instead....
Dog was the last one standing, and killed Flemeth!! :o!  I had no idea...

You guys find any other good uses for Dog?

Did he do the epic kill animation?

No epic kill, just walked away like it was all in a days work... I love Ser Barkly...
BTW - level 10 dog with str and con equal, plus a bit of extra dex. only specials were charge and shred. also an upgraded collar, and some warpaint..

Dog killed the High Dragon once; an encounter soon after I was informed that he could not be swallowed by the drake. But I have yet to take him against the Archdemon, as the best collar and kadis is simply not good enough to keep the Dog alive, IMO.

@Elhanan, high dragon ! I would try Dog vs Archdemon at least once (save before tho --) I am just discovering dogs useful abilities....

1. does not draw a lot of attention from enemies, so he can attack ranged mages and archers easier than the Warden.

2. adding dex really improves Dogs survivability

3. Dog is really, really fast... He can get up on those hill tops where the mages and archers lurk in most of the "suprise" attacks way ahead of anyone else in the party

4. Dog really likes the Warden, so I set up his tactics to defend the Warden and attack anyone attacking the Warden (enemy-attacking main char-attack). Turns 3 on 1 fights into 3 on 2 fights... much easier.

I'll keep experimenting with Dog... he may well be the most overlooked party member in DAO.

I plan on using Dog in an "evil" playthrough, mostly because there's such a limited selection.

Good point... Dog is loyal no matter what, and won't lecture you or attack you if you do something evil...

Its not a bad team, dog, Ohgren, Morrigan, possibly Lohgaine to switch one of those out.

I actually planned on Morrigan, Zevran, Dog, and PC Warrior.

I love Steve Blum, but I hate Oghren.

It's as if they said "Alright, all dwarves except this specific one will deliberately not sound like dwarves in other fantasy games, and the one that actually does will sound totally forced and unnatural."

I guess I'd switch Logain in for Dog for all of three hours of gameplay.  Though I guess there could be some are-pee merit for using Oghren considering Awakenings.

I like the Idea of dog as your best friend, like the one in fable, especially in the human noble origin.

Dog rawks. I give him str higher than his dex and dex higher than his con. Hes sort of a hybrid damage-dealer/tank. He can dish out punishment, but not like my Rogue Warden, and he can take punishment, but not like S/S Alistair.

Im thinking, Dog's final stats will be 30/30 dex/con and MAX str.

I have a question for anyone who's used dog alot. Do Overwhelms stack?   For example, lets say some big spider jumps on top of Alistair and does its Overwhelm. Can Dog then jump on top of the spider and do HIS overwhelm at the same time? If so, what does that look like exactly?

My dog defeated the Archdemon once... got a special kill animation too. Dog is, by nature, pretty sturdy. As for overwhelm, I'm fairly sure that 'knocking down' is part of the effect, therefore I think he knocks the spider off the character and the standard overwhelm animation proceeds.

The Beast with Two Backs.

Seriusly though ive used Dog in my party at all times in two games currently and ive never had that specific scenario come up.

Never tried this but the dread howl attack is perfect for this problem. If your stunned you can't be overrunning a PC. Works on ogres and their grab attacks as well.

Yes I buy the plus fire warpaint protection for him from the the Inn Keeper before going into the Mage Tower. Dog plus Shale are good anti dragon set up with 2 ranged attackers.

and I was expecting this to be a thread suggesting the dog should have been able to land the killing blow on the Arch-Demon since he's practically a Grey Warden himself :P

Glad I'm not the only Dog lover here...

@rayvioletta - Actually Dog should be a gray warden, after all the darkspawn blood he swallows! lol

Archdemon transfers to Dog at the end?? So an old God becomes an old Dog -- lol

i think they should have brought dog back in awakening it would make it so much more fun to have him play with anders cat and find items for you.

Don't think he would play with Anders' cat.

Also, NECRO!
