I made a nice shiny new sword, but now I would like to add runeslots to it. I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. Any advice?

To make a weapon accept runes you need to set the ITEM_RUNE_ENABLED variable to 1. The number of rune slots is then determined by the MaterialType property, for example for DA:O, Steel and Veridium weapons have 1 slot, Red Steel and Silverite weapons have 2 slots and Dragonbone weapons 3 slots.

Actually the number of rune slots is determined by a mix between the item basetype and the item material rule. They both have a "RuneCount" attribute, and the final presence of rune slots comes from the sum of those two attributes. For example that's why the dragonbone material isn't enough to add slots to a staff : the material rule may have a RuneCount equal to 3, but the basetype RuneCount attribute is worth -100 : -100+3 < 0 and tchak, no slots on dragonbone mage staves.

Yep, that's the place. Don't mind the "default" column, you should be able to change your item localvar via the "value" column.

Its not letting me do anything. I'm left clicking, right clicking, hitting the 1 key - nothing.

Apologies in advance if you did try already and something's amiss, but double clicking is missing in your list. And, well, that's the thingy that should work : a left double-click on the table cell of your choice.

THANK YOU, it worked !!! I would think that with all of the clicking I was doing, I would have covered it.
