My computer recently got a new hard drive and the original files for Dragon Age were moved to a new F drive, while my original icon, while still on the desktop didn't work. Now, today, I reinstalled Dragon Age, only under C drive. 4 icons appeared after the install on my desktop, and if I remove some of them by putting them in the trash, NONE of the leftover icons will work. So I restored them, and clicked them--normal window comes up with the music etc. When I click "play," it says d3dx9_36.dll is missing or other.

What should I do? I've had similar problems because of the odd placement of game files in the F drive--Civ IV Colonization had empty folders after I moved some of the F files I think (and this was after I reinstalled it). Very strange. I could ask the tech expert who fixed the computer what's going on, but I am not fluent in Korean (and yes, this is a Korean computer, and I am currently in Korea).

Oh yes, and the computer on which these issues occur is a Windows XP Pro, with Service Pack 3, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, E8400@ 3.00 GHz, 3.50 GB RAM. I am virtually computer illiterate, if that is important.

Also, how do I redirect/retrieve my BioWare account if my email account has been hacked? I don't see any section in Support for that particular horrible situation (and MSN doesn't seem too eager to get my hotmail account back).

You should update your version of DirectX (you will find the DirectX installer on your DA:O DVD or, if using a Steam version, in Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\dragon age origins\\redist\\DirectX folder).

Are you also using Windows XP?

Ok, the problem is, Dragon Age isn't listed on the EA Games list, so that wouldn't change my Bioware account info any. Perhaps I should just delete the account and make a new one? I fear that my DLC content from pre-ordering Dragon Age wouldn't be available then though. Please let me know what my options are.

I'll download Direct X 9 now, though it's odd--I could swear it's already downloaded on this computer.

It says I have Direct X 9.0c, isn't that the latest version? If not, which version should I download?

There have been many updates over the several years since the very first version of Dx9 O.c initially came out. The one on the game's hard copy DVD is from a bout 18 months ago, I think.

Meanwhile, do not expect any official anything here and you will be better off.  Official links are given here:

Yes, DirectX 9.0c is the latest version of DirectX 9. But, since its release Microsoft has supplied several updates for it. To install the latest version of DirectX 9 designed for your version of Windows, you can go here. Please note that you do not have to uninstall anything prior to launching this installer. It will only install updated or modified files.

For this issue, I recommend that you contact directly EA Customer Support.

What about the Direct X 9 SDK pack? Does that include all the updates?

Which site can I directly contact EA Customer Support from? EA's website is confusing. Trying to navigate it I end up in places I don't want/need to go (i.e. checking my EA account for which I have Battle for Middle Earth II placed in apparently). O_o

Simply download the runtime web installer at the top of the page. Disregard the other download at the bottom of the page.

Ok, thanks. But what about EA Customer Support--how do I directly contact them? And given my account I'm concerned with is from Bioware, why can I not update my email address from Bioware's site? :S

Really don't know. Read the FAQ about email address change.
