One thing about this situation, I really
wish that when Morrigan makes her little comment about how it's an
interesting proposal, a City Elf could tell her "My father is one of
those cages!" and get to see her reaction to this. Would she back down
with one of her awkward faces or would she scoff at it?
I really wish there was an option like that, too, and not just for Morrigan - such as when Zevran and Wynne start trying to talk you out of it before you've given any indication that you're going to do that, it would be nice to be able to say 'of course I'm not going to do that, my father is in there' or something to that effect. You can imagine it, of course, but it'd be nice to actually have it there.
Come to think of it, I wish there was a bit more of talking to your father and cousins when you return to the Alienage in general. Not that what's there isn't nice.
I don't know what other origins get in the way of that kind of thing, though. I've never gotten far enough with one of them yet.
I usually use the Dalish army for defending the Alienage, too. Well, when I remember to use the armies at all, that is. I keep forgetting about them until the last.
Soris is pretty cool. It definitely says something that he helps out with the rescue.

Sadly, that's the only screenshot I have on hand that has him in it.

Re. the alienage battle, just don't ever use the templars, especially not with a PC mage. The darkspawn general there is a tough mage so I thought it would be a good idea, but gah, soooo annoying to have them continually Cleansing my mage's buffs and hexes away. That's what she gets for annulling the Circle.

The templars will make liberal use of cleansing aura? That's just great. I wonder if that's worse than liberal use
of fireballs though...
My current PC "forgot" to use the Litany of Adralla during the Uldred battle. Serves her right.

Shianni is not amused.

I was really sad to not get a love interest discussion with Dad as a city elf. I loved the little chat you can have with Alistair/Leliana/Zevran but bringing boyfriend/girlfriend home to dad? That would be a dream convo for me!
haha, this is just something I plan for a small fancomic.... daddy Tabris meets Zev.....just epic.... :3
I omg love Shianni too, she's so cute and a strong character.... I want to torture Vaughan rather than just kill him
edit : like getting him raped by.... hmmm..... broodmother?

I must admit I'm semi-serious, because in fact, I prefer cut the rapist's crotch before :3
I know, I have an horrible result of thinking and I don't hide it.
sorry if that hurt you or somebody else, I'll try to calm down

Back on topic, if there were to be only one elven companion in DA2, which would y'all prefer: City or Dalish? Also, male or female? Romanceable or not?

City, I think. I like the Dalish, but they're supposed to be insular. I get a little twitchy when the world gets built and then the rules get ignored really quickly for specialness. (No, not a fan of the entire premise of Awakening, either.)
No particular gender preference, and if s/he's romanceable, the power imbalance in a human/elf relationship should really, really be addressed. And not in a [Persuade] "Oh, it's okay now!" sort of way, either. More like a "pick the wrong dialogue or action options and it's over" kind of way, ideally involving camp conversations and a companion crisis scene that contains additional nuance if the companion is a LI.

I totally agree. Rape is something I wouldn't wish even on my worst enemy. It's such a heinous act that the very idea of it, regardless of who the victim is, makes me sick.
But let's leave this topic aside or else this thread may also get locked up.
@Mousestalker:
Definitely a female one, possibly a loose cannon like Shianni? Whether Dalish or not I'm not sure. We already had a Dalish companion in Velanna but she was terrible. I'd like to get a good Dalish companion this time.
And yes, she should be romanceable!

City elf and Dalish have their charm but I have a particular affection for City.
I would really like to have Mythra for companion, she has class and looks really strong

Then when my Dalish arrives she's calling her sister and how great it is that she's a Grey Warden. I admit, that took me by surprise.

I was almost shocked by how differently Mythra greets a Dalish. I mean it was obvious a Dalish would get a warmer reception but still, given how standoffish she is against any non-Dalish I just thought she was like that in general and that she would still be suspicious about a Dalish traveling with humans (or golems... or a qunari... or DOG!).

I really wish there was more to the Dalish side. I mean on the City side you got to go save your dad and the Dalish side just seemed a little lacking...Definately romanceable though. That wouls be nice.

Yeah, the fact that three LI outright in Origins ignore your species and the fourth one only has a dismissive answer when you ask really seems...lacking. Romancing a different species should feel like a bigger deal than it does.Eudaemonium wrote...
I actually agree with Corker in that I'd really liked the species power imbalance to be drawn out with regards to any elven LI in DA2 (and I hope there is one). I don't really mind which background though. I think City is *more* likely given context, but exploring the history of a Dalish elf who isn't Velanna would be interesting, though I have to admit I'm rather fond of her in her own way.
