Not sure why you say "One of the Grey" is creepy, she's lovely.

In keeping with the Elf/Sten theme today, and in retaliation to his earlier gawking at boobs, Kallian Tabris is wondering whether its true what they say about big men.
It honestly looks like dad is taking out the kids for a walk.
Warden: Hey, that guy's got a mabari! Can I pet it?
Sten: No.
Zevran: Ice cream truck! Ice cream truck!
Sten: No.
Warden: Why do we even go on these stupid walks?
Sten: Training.
Zevran: What are we learning?
Sten: Not your training.
Warden: Huh?
Sten: (sigh) Ask your mother.
d'awww.... I'm just dead of laughing

Not a complaint, but it seems as though a lot of the original art work is of the Dalish. What makes them more appealing to artists?
My guess is the blood writing/tattoos are appealing to draw/paint/etc? I mean, I know you can apply them to any character and race in the character creation area, but going by the traditional in-game knowledge, only the Dalish have facial tattoos (other than the casteless mark for dwarves).

I don't think there's much, actually, at least it seems that way to me. Believe me, I scan Mahariel art regularly.mousestalker wrote...

I seem to see elf mages or Tabris more often. Not that I'm complaining, and maybe it's just my perception.

Crop of the elves

Looks like they are planning to make the ears stick out more. The DAO concept art had upright ears. People probably have their varying opinions on elf ears, but this does not make me happy.

Honestly, I'm just relieved that the ears seem to be the only real change to elves. And they did say that it's early concept art, so hopefully they'll be more upright.Addai67 wrote...
So, new early concept art for DA2.

Blast! I was so totally hoping for the qunari women to be more the Lady Sybil Vimes (nee Ramkin) sort. Differing standards of beauty. Uh huh.
Well they're different standards in that they're different Human standards of beauty. See the Asari from Mass Effect. I don't want to read too much into concept art but it seems like they're retconning the height of Elves in that picture they're as tall as Humans but have very slender bodies. Also am I alone in thinking they've done something to the eye structure on their new Elven concept they seem to have very large red corneas and jet black pupils. I worry for the elves greatly now.

People keep comparing the DA2 elves to the natives from Avatar. It does seem like that is the direction they're going, with the very large, wide-set eyes and the ears sticking out sideways. Even the hair??adneate wrote...

If so, that... doesn't seem very original.

I think she's got pretty good reasons to look demented at that point in time. It's been a bit of a bad day for her.Sarah1281 wrote...

Anyone else notice that the elf female's arms are really long and she's got man-hands?

Avatar's whatever the hell those stupid blue cat things are called have to be one of the most creatively bankrupt creations in a movie filled to the brim with poor ideas and rip-offs. The fact that I can see the comparison between these retconned Elves and the blue abominations of James Cameron's ****** fantasy is depressing as all hell.
Also I agree that is seems like the female Elves are way too large and her hands are much too big as well, has anyone at BioWare studied anatomy and proportions or do they just not care? My poor poor elves, I thought you were just fine the way you were.

That's because there isn't any, they're just different types of humans with horns or pointy ears.

And what I'm saying is that they're not even really different types of humans. They are all well within the Western beauty standard. The women are all hourglasses, the men are all muscular. That the elf is a C cup instead of a D doesn't impress me all that much.
I know that they're limited by the animating skeletons and issues like armor and clothes (although they managed some fat(tish) human men, like Llyod, in DAO), but it just seems silly to show four variations of movie star good looks and claim that they are "different standards of beauty."
