Okay, so I'm playing on normal, because if I don't I'll just fail so bad. This game is hard, man!

Anyway, I was just wondering if this will screw me in the long run. Will I get less XP cause I'm on normal? Or is that only if you play on the novice setting? Basically, what I'm saying is, does the difficulty affect anything important, besides making it easier?

God, I already asked so many questions. I'm sorry guys.Posted Image I'll seriously try to shut up after this one. I do look them up before hand, but can never find an answer.

Depends on what you play :
In Baldur's Gate 1 : there are no disadvantages on normal. You get half the experience on easy though.
In Baldur's Gate 2 : The lower the difficulty, the more advantages you get. No disadvantages at all, apart from the game being quite silly and not that random.

Edit : note that if you have mods like Tutu or Trilogy, the Baldur's Gate 2 rules apply. You won't get half experience on easy in Baldur's Gate 2, Tutu or Trilogy.

Thank you! So now I don't have to worry. I can play on easy, and not care! :)

Actually, from what I have read on some forums I expected BG2 to be far more difficult. I am a little bit disappointed by Firkraag And Kangaxx. I expected the red dragon to pose a bigger threat judging by his arrogant dialog where I promised myself I'll wear his skin as a coat. The poor critter went down from the first try. Keldorn and my ranger/cleric meleed him to death. The battle was very short, my party took no damage. I had a few summons and everyone was pretty buffed up, but still, I expected better from Firkraag. The shadow dragon was harder to kill, for example.

Now, Kangaxx was really lame. I killed him from the first attempt and with no buffs because I did not know he was going to attack at that particular moment so I was unprepared. It turned out it wasn't necessary to load game. He time stoped once, but he only managed to kill a fire elemental that Jaheira summoned during combat. Keldorn with Carsomyr probably played a major role in this battle. My PC was wielding Mace of Disruption, but the lich seemed to be immune to destroy undead ability of the mace. Keldorn was lvl 13 and my ranger/cleric was 11/12, the rest of the party couldn't even land a hit on him.

The only really hard fight I managed to get in so far was in a house in the bridge sector where you get teleported into a small round room. There is a beholder and a lich among other powerful creatures. That battle was truly insane. It took me 4-5 tries, but now Jan has a very cool stick :)
