Sure, DA is a fantasy genre, but I'll maintain that we do have a clue how heavy iron, steel, ash or yew are. But that's quite beside the point, of course you can explain everything (including 7 wheeled cars and scalpels the size of claymores) by saying "That's how it works over there."
I was basically saying that I don't see the need for these. Does the dude in your picture look better because his sword is 5 inches longer? Any innuendo not intended. "My Schwartz is bigger than yours" worked wonders in Space Balls, but does it really make things better in DA:O? I guess BioWare thinks it does and they know their audience better than I do, but to me it looks goofy.
