I have been thinking, EA is pretty much taking advantage of Bioware's good reputation and all that, and I am seriously hoping that Bioware wont end up dead like Maxis, Bullfrog and Westwood which where also recruited by EA.

But, I am also seeing opportunities for Bioware. EA holds a lot of licenses, including Dungeon Keeper.

Myself and a lot of other people are still hoping to see a Dungeon Keeper 3 someday.

I personly think that Bioware and Dungeon Keeper would be a perfect match if in a somewhat other form. It wouldnt need to be about, well Dungeon Keeping but it could use the same setting.

Its a setting that does not have very expanded lore so would give Bioware a lot of freedom with that, and the style of Dragon Age does seem a bit familiar to it.

While it would be incredibly fun to see a Dungeon Keeper dungeon as Dragon Age DLC, it might disrupt the lore of both licenses.

However, the Dragon Age engine could be perfect for it. It could follow the story of a group of heroes that band together to destroy dungeon keepers throughout the lands, allowing the player to pick one of the classes that where seen in dungeon keeper games and form a party with other such heroes.

Bioware has the sense of humor required for it, they are experts of the RPG genre and can tell the best stories.

Perhaps with some guys of the sims team they could even make a Dungeon Keeper 3, where the sims team could work on the dungeon building and social aspects of the creatures and Bioware for everything else.

I would just hate to see all those wonderfull creatures from Dungeon Keeper not ever getting used again.

A direct reference to Dungeon Keeper in Dragon Age could also be quite awesome, like having the armor that the lord of the land in Dungeon Keeper 1 was wearing available in Dragon Age, or seeing a barbarian with a pink mohawk walk past with a large hammer over his shoulder. Or encountering a hatchery with chickens in a dungeon that are used as food by the occupying creatures.

Oh yeah Dungeon Keeper was so much fun. I would love to see a continuation of that series.

Bah, it's just a suggestion. I had my hopes up when I read the title, thinking that somehow BioWare acquired license for Dungeon Keeper. =/

Well EA just renewed the trademark in August, so that might give you a little hope. Though how they decide to handle the license is another story.

EA is the holding company and publisher. There are dozens of development studios that own and reserve rights to the IP. Case in point - Activision's lawsuit with Double Fine about Brutal Legend. After dumping the Brutal Legend title, Activision sued Double Fine to prevent the October release. The judge threw the case out of court.

Yeah Dungeon Keeper. Great game. I thought that DK1 was much better than DK2 and would hope any future game would be more in the mould of the original.

Anyone here ever get DK1 to run on Vista?

I really dunno.

While I love BioWare for what they can in RPG's, and I love Dungeon Keeper because it's a smutty little beck of a game in a sea of rainbows and unicorns, I don't know if it goes "translated" that well.

Bullfrog had a completely wacked up team from the 90's and someone making DK3 would have to do almost "campy" for the purposes it requires.

Ah, the Dungeon Keeper series. My first exposure to the crazy that is Peter Molyneux. DK3 is something I have been hoping for for a long time.

I managed to get DK1&2 running on Vista x32. I haven't tried it on my new Win 7 x64 yet though.

Dungeon Keeper 1 is indeed the better one, 2 is a good game, but not as a sequel to Dungeon keeper 1 if that makes any sense.

Bioware is indeed not the bullfrog team, but they often show a dark kind of humor as well in their games which is perfect for Dungeon Keeper. Bioware would also be able to provide that world and its creatures with a story.

Bile Demons, The Horned Reaper, Imps, the Dungeon Heart, Bioware would be able to give all of it a feasible background.

Kind of strange that EA has not done anything with this great franchise, its kind of a predecessor to the sims after all. Its still a shame that you cant slap your sims when they are being annoying.

Do you remember how? I'd really like to know how to do this. Thought I'd exhausted all avenues and it was nigh on impossible Posted Image

If EA follows the city-state idea that has worked for them these past couple years we will have some great games and Bioware will remain awesome. But Bioware should not pick up Dungeon Keeper, it is not what Bioware does best because was it does best is rpgs and DK is base building. If it is required to pick it up it should pull a Blizzard meaning if it does not meet its high standard it would be put down quitely.

I think all I had to do was turning on compatability mode for XP SP2 for those games. There were some minor graphical glitches in the title screen, but otherwise the game played fine. My DK1 was gold edition, and from what I've heard not everyone managed to get DK1 running as easily as that.

There is a large number of discussion threads on google about how to make DK1 work on Vista. It may offer some more insights onto the situation.

Played Dungeon Keeper 2 myself some days ago and thought about a third game.
Last month I read somewhere, can´t find a source now, EA had plans with different old Bullfrog licenses, among other things Dungeon Keeper, Syndicate and Theme Hospital.

And you´re lucky if live in asia
http://kotaku.com/51...geon-keeper-mmo

Would be interesting if some DA modders could do something Dungeon Keeper like

:o Syndicate too?! Hurry up EA and release these IP!

Also Elixir Studios should try their hand at DK. They were the most recent developer I can think of that released a similar game.

Sorry to shatter your dreams but Elixir Studios ceased to exist in 2006 I believe. Loved Evil Genius btw.

:(:crying:. That is sad. Evil Genius is an awesome game up there with DK because of its different traps.

If you've found a way to make DK2 run properly on something else than Windows 98, I'd love to hear it. As far as I know, the last patch was 1.7, wich allowed DK2 to run on Windows2k/XP, but for me the game just keeps crashing randomly.

Right now the only way I could play DK2 would be to try to run it on a virtual machine or reinstall Windows 98 on my old laptop. :(

Yep. I've tried what you suggest (I have DKG too) and looked at many threads on the matter. Still no joy.

There is a solution involving dosbox, but even that doesn't seem to work for everyone.

There is talk of an unofficial DK3 on these forums. Lot of other quite interesting stuff too

As I said, Bioware wouldnt need to make a Dungeon Keeper 3 with the same playstyle, that would require the help of the sims team probably.

Bioware could make another game in the same setting where you would walk through the dungeons as heroes, or perhaps where you controll a group of creatures that travel the dungeons together.

I am all for a Dungeon Keeper mod for Dragon Age of course. I cant think of a more interesting dungeon to explore than one filled with Dungeon Keeper's creatures. I especially loved the style of DK1 which is also more similar to Dragon Age than DK2.

The Horned Reaper did look better in DK2 though, very impressive. the most evil looking creature I ever saw in a game definatly. the Dark Angel was also a good newcomer. But the slow imps and useless spellcasters where no fun, and the overall style was too different from Dungeon Keeper 1.

Once I did make a Dungeon Keeper style dungeon including any creature that the toolset and many mods allowed wiht neverwinter nights 1.

The Mage, Wizard, Dark Angel, Guard, Rogue, Lord of the Land, Monk, Mistress, thief, archer and Samurai I was able to make. The dungeon was quite decorated as well with a torture room, lair, libary, treasury, training room and Prison.
