Dear BioWare Peeps,
I just wanted to report some of the issues I've had playing DA:O on the PS3:
- The Ogre Alpha never spawned in the first phase ("Redcliffe Revisited") of "The Final Battle" quest. Since I had just saved at that point, I had to reload a much earlier savegame, and re-play about 90 minutes of content to get back to that point. Very frustrating! (The Ogre Alpha did appear the second time, and I was able to finish the game.)
- There are lots of music hiccups throughout gameplay (during battle, or while just walking around), which is very much to the detriment of the game's atmosphere.
- There were numerous points during dialogue sequences where the speech was completely inaudible. (Character's lips moving, but no sound.)
I also experienced a number of other minor problems, but the above three come to mind first. In my opinion, the PS3 version of DA:O was too buggy to be released; it's far below the standard of reliability that one expects of console games. In the future, please don't release things which have not been rigourously tested on the platform its being released for.
DA:O is a fantastic game overall, but the PS3 release is a QA embarrassment for BioWare.
I have a North American PS3 Slim 120GB running the latest system software, and DA:O has had the latest updates applied. I have not installed Awakenings nor any other DLC.
