All the new info I'm reading is making me pretty hype for DA2 ( almost equal to my hype for ME2 :-)

Ah yes, the removal of the good-for-nothing inventory. At least Mass Effect 2 handled that well enough. It's ridiculous that your characters can carry around the same amount of items that some of the vendors sold throughout the game.

I'm hoping that DA2 will either have a ME2-like or Witcher-like inventory. :bandit:

There are a handful of people who are sane and rightly loathe inventory management. Bravo.

Death to vendor trash!

Please no, saying that I don't like the inventory in TW would be a large understatement.

In RPG the normal way to get cash is not through rewards but to sell stuff, and you also use that cash to buy what you want, also it is normal to be able to equip yourself and your companions, don't you dare taking these possibilities out

What was the Witcher inventory like? Seeing as you mentioned ME2, could I guess that it's similar to Deus Ex?

It is "normal" and it normally sucks so get rid of it.

You want to gat agreat magic dagger? Go kill a monster and earn it, don't sweep up tons of trash to sell and then buy it from a merchant. Why does Wonders of Thedas have more magical items than any area in the game? Not fun, lame.

So far I haven't heard anything yet to take away my fear that DA2 is turning into a ME knockoff, otoh I did hear quite some stuff that points in exactly that direction. And tbh I don't think it's whining to state you're worried about the direction a sequel to a game you enjoyed is taking.

and why the heck should you find a super magical dagger on an ogre or the body of a wolf?

a shop that actually sells magical stuff is a more logical place for it to be

not to mention WoT is the main magical shop in the damn Capitol  of the kingdom :?

And I say normal is good, and Halo style weapon looting sucks, so therePosted Image

Because it makes sense. The shop is owned and operated by the Circle of Magi, you know the people responsible for creating magic items, which also happens to be there principal source of revenue.

You might not, it might be on the body of a Darkspawn Rogue Alpha or in the clutches of Jarvia or anything else. Picking apt treasures to have also helps - no more Lyrium potions that Deep Stakers are using as suppositories.

Seriously, they wouldn't have treasure but you expect to have an S-Mart of magical items? Every adventurer in Thedas should just kick down the door of Wonders and steal everything in sight, it's a lot more value to kill that tranquil than to raid the ruins in the Brecillian forest.

Well I for one am leaving my hopes and fears at the door until I know more.  Crying wolf on the game being bad or good before we even know more is dumb.

Granted, some of the things talked about in interviews do sound interesting like the narrative and new art concepts.  But of course trying to give my opinion and not have someone flame me for it would be impossible on these boards.

;)

Again, find me any heroic story with regular corpse looting and shopping and you win but it doesn't happen because it isn't, well youn know, heroic. I like getting cool stuff, I HATE getting 99.9% vendor trash which is what looting is in DAO or BG2 or ME1 or KoTOR.

Right because adventurers don't defeat traps and guards all the time. Do you even think before you type something like that?

it is in the damn capitol, the most protected city in the kingdom, and from what you say to me it looks like you don't like RPG's overall but you do shooters, or you just love to troll

Because there's a little thing called laws, you know living in an organised society tends to come with those. You're applying way to much gamer logic, and not enough how would a world actually work logic. Dragon Age is an RPG, not a shooter or Action-Adventure game.

Balázs I wouldn't mind Hawke neither as much as I do now, if we could pick a race of our choice

I don't mind if I have to play as Human, since I played Human characters only in DA:O. But I understand it bothers some of you.I love Dwarven culture, Dwarven Factions such as: Silent Sisters, Legion of Dead. I really want to see these factions in DA2. But when it comes to play as one... Well, I just can't. Dwarvens are way too short to me. Don't get me wrong, they are intrests me a lot more than Human or Elven culture. I just can't imagine a dwarf to my main character.
And the Elves.I don't like them at all...  Since I prefer fighting with close ranged weapons, I wouldn't play as an archer or mage. And the most Elves are archers or spellcasters. I can't help it, thats what I think.

1 more question. Are u from around Hungary? Cuz you wrote 'Balázs'
That is how they call me, it's just looks wierd that some1 recognized.

This is what The Witcher's inventory looks like.

At the top you have:
- A display of the amount of orens you have in your possession (money).
- And depending on your armour you have 1-3 slots for quick-use item slots for consumable and usable items.

On the left you have your equipment slots with:
- Two equipment slots at the back for two weapons: 2-handed swords, longswords, ...
- One equipment slot at the hip for a single large weapon: 2-handed sword, longsword, torch, axe ...
- One equipment slot at the thigh for a single small weapon: Dagger, handaxe, ...
- In between you have the slots for rings, of course, Dragon Age has more of these kind of equipment slots.
- At the bottom you have a slot for your monster trophies.

On the right you have the actual inventory bag with:
- At the top a section for all of the quest items, this section has unlimited space.
- In the middle a section for all the consumable, usable and generic items.
- At the bottom a section for your alchemical components, which were filterable.

Sure, this kind of inventory system drastically lowers the amount of items you can carry around, but at the same time it adds a more tactical approach to the game. You'll have to think twice about picking up that sword from the dead bandit's remains, or whether or not you'll need those bombs, oils or potions with you on your current adventure.

Honestly, if I could, I would change the inventory system in Origins to be more like that for my own enjoyment. :)

Aside from the occasional mage staff and cowl which they could be reselling the same way they resell the stuff you sell to them, the only places magical equipment can be purchased are Wonders of Thedas and the quartermaster at the mage tower.

Which means 95% of the items be it magical or not originate from the shops of Denerim anyway, even those you loot from darkspawn
