I really like your picture first off, but I'd like you to try making the eyes perhaps a bit more angled with the actual flow of the face.

I'd like to see elves stay the same generally for the sake of continuity. Meaning, I don't want their height to fluxuate wildly, or their skin color to vary into the realms of absurd. I don't particularly care if they attempt on making them look a bit more fey-like by giving them bigger ears--It's not my cup of tea, but I could live with it.

I'd like to see:
-a more lithe and sinuous build structure
-more angular eyes
-specific tribal tattoos, perhaps...
----etc.

But I can't play as an elf, so I suppose I am going to have to just grumble about the cusomization options for human.

.

I quit this thread. The end.

I wonder if it worked.

I'm hoping for something alien about them. Beautiful in the way a Picasso is beautiful.

So what two eyes on the same side of the face and a ****ed up nose on their ass?

Aside from the much needed change of appearance, Elves are generally known in mythology for their magical powers, they should be considerably the best mages in Thedas, they also the way they look more along the lines of Elves in say lineage II, minus the very wide ears of course.

More alien in appearance, less conventional DnD garbage.

Elves are second-class citizens for a reason. They are weak physically and mostly dominated by humanity, and while their Keepers boast mighty powers, so do Tevinter mages, and there's a hell of a lot more of them than Elven Keepers.

I know the redesign is going to be minor compared to the Qunari but I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the matter.

I, personally, would like them to look a tiny bit less human. The elves looked far too much like humans in DA:O. However I would hate them to lose the humanoid factor. Just change small things that link the race together.

I'm hoping for something like this:

Art by me

No philtrum groove/dimple. Small pupils. Longer ears. Longer neck.

It's not going to happen, but hey, girl can dream. :kissing:

Really awesome picture :) I can only hope they look more like this, but in the end, when I made my elf, (my avatar) he looked fairly distinct.

But they are also the same people who decend from a people who created a nation twice that rivaled some of the human kingdoms. The only reason they losed was cuz they were out numbered

If anyone's wondering androgynous means there's no real difference between male or female. They both sort of look the same.

Something in the style of the elves from Hellboy 2. Not exactly like them, I don't think it would work for  video game, but an alien enough design that still holds unconventional beauty.

I'd be up for this, as long as it's more of an amalgam of their current style and Hellboy's so that they don't look too different.

Well, i hope they remain generally unchanged. I like the DA elves pretty much because of how they currently are so, well.

Incidentally, people asking to make the elves taller -- note that would make the silhouettes even more human-like which is the opposite what these redesigns are supposed to achieve.

You could also give them a slimmer more androgynous build as opposed to the muscle-bound or well endowed humans. It's would make for a rather distinct silhouette as opposed to the human teenager one  we have now.

I would really like them to be a little bit taller...at least the males. When i played as a HFN i just couldn't do the romance with Zevran.....he was nice and all but damn small! And that doesn't really look good in my books...

And maybe to look a little bit different from humans.

Slight difference in body weight and./or breast size is still less noticeable than height difference, especially in all types of armour the characters can wear. Going from "short, thin human vs regular human" to "thin human vs regular human" really isn't improvement in that regard.

Elves don't do beards. Ever.

Edit: @ ArjunaAle: Those are good concept sketches. Were they done digitally? ( photo shop)

Give elves some beards I say. Everyone has the right to have a fine beard!

But in seriousness i'd like to see DA Elve's more like the Dark Elves from Morrowind. Those guys were definitely unique compared to our usual Tolkein-esk elves. Or it might be because I have a hatred of hippies and those tree-hugging pointy eared Dalish elves just make me mad.

I never really saw the Dalish as tree hugging hippies. I mean, true they lived in the forest, but I always got the sense that it was more out of a desire to avoid contact with humans than any sort of love for the forests themselves.
