I'd say they are pretty damn tough considering they've endured while being surrounded by enemies, and won a war where they were invaded on two fronts.

40-50 years of peaceful time can generally result in people 2+ generations later looking pretty good. But that has little relevance left to what people who do remain under harsh conditions look like.Slidell505 wrote...

What does wealth have to do with beauty? Aside from superficial things like not being able to afford makeup or fancy combs or whatever, how much money one has doesn't affect their genetics in any way. Same with living in the wild...they can still bathe in streams and whatnot, and even if they didn't put much emphasis on bathing or hygeine, their natural physical beauty wouldn't change. It would just be somewhat...covered up.RPGrogue wrote...
Thats not what i ment. look at the dalish, they live in the wild they should not be pretty. and most of the time they are poor, so they shouldnt be that pretty either

Tolkien elves are not the ones with donkey ears.HopHazzard wrote...
Agreed. I'm rather done with Tolkien elves. I really don't understand why so many people are wishing for Tolkien elves when it seems like BioWare was very deliberately subverting that whole concept of elves being holier than thou, uber superior, better than humans in every way.Merilsell wrote...
And I don't need Tolkien-esque superior looking, mega awesome elves with donkey ears. Thank you very much. Just give them a few minor tweaks like other hairstyles, different set of noses/eyes from humans and I'm content.
The good thing about keeping Tolkien as a template in my view is that a) his elves are humanlike enough that they don't look like aliens, and

Inability to accept change to what is their character type of choice, would be my guess.

Sounds a lot like how the Dalish view themselves if you ask me

I think the females need more meat on their bones.
I would say we need a build, and hight slider at character creation, then NPC-s would also differ a lot more
the lack of meat is not elf-specific

I doubt this engine is that advanced.

Even NWN2 engine was able to do it, and many others, this is not about having a super-engine, it is about Bioware taking the time to actually make it so.

On the topic of accents, did it occur to anyone else that elf accents in DAO made no sense?Isabelle Mortello wrote...

I mean, it made sense for Dwarves and Dalish to have American accents as it was used to show that they weren't from Ferelden (although I would have liked it if they could have differentiated the Dalish and the Dwarves accent-wise), but City Elves are Fereldan, just as much as the Humans are; logically, they should have had British accents just as the Humans did.

Possibly something like the Shaiya Goddess of Light, quite fair skin with a radiant glow to the skin, light blonde hair and quite bright eyes. Although I don't see what's wrong with an elf with the same image as the Elves from LOTR More so like Arwen rather then Galadriel, quite magical looking, with the glow to the skin.
