Since BioWare is no longer supporting NWN1 , isn't it about time that they released a patch for the premium modules that require online authentication to remove that requirement?

That d... premium authentification system always pissed me off. What a stupid idea! Now I see why. It's getting even stupider every day.

How can some people could just come up with such an idea is beyond me, and I'm pleased about it.

Some people...

Not a patch in the terms of adding content etc. , but a simple "patch" or "adjustment" so that the premium modules no longer need you to authenticate online.

Think it's about time they released them from this DRM.

Oh and "jmlzemaggo" , if you think BioWare's DRM is bad , go peruse the Silent Hunter 5 forums. <_<

While I agree it would be nice to not need online authentication, I'm not sure BioWare can make any such change anymore. I haven't paid enough attention to all the legalities to be sure, but I expect the order that pulled premium module sales also killed this sort of support. This, unfortunately, is where business and the real world intrude upon gaming.

Well, I for one am very upset because this was brought up when this stupid system was introduced and Bioware said they would try to come up with something better. Now I am out $50 bucks or so because I cannot play ANY of my NWN premium content. Why am I being penalized just because I play the games I like for many years.

I am sure I am not the first (loyal) customer they are loosing because of this stupidity - all because they were greedy in the first place. They are more worried about making money than supporting their existing customer base. Repeat sales is how companies make money, not new sales - and certainly not by pissing their loyal customers off.

When will these people learn?

I was looking forward to NWN 3 or whatever the newest incarnation is/will be called.  Now I will just stick to DDO.

Bye Bioware - it was fun before you ruined it.

What are you talking about? I just tried it out, and I can play Infinite Dungeons and Wyvern Crown of Cormyr without any difficulties. The online authentication works just fine. I am more annoyed about that I cannot buy Pirates of the Sword Coast any longer. I would have liked to play it.

I believe the GOG version of NWN comes with the premium modules. I know it is not an ideal solution, but you can still get a copy of them.

Nope, only those DRM-free Premium modules that were and (possibly still are) available in stores (included in Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition or the Kingmaker Add-on):

- Kingmaker
- Shadow Guard
- Witches Wake Chapter 1 (unfinished series)

It doesn't include the ones that were available for download only and required online authentification:

- Infinite Dungeons
- Wyvern Crown of Cormyr
- Pirates of the Sword Coast

Legally they may not be able to release such a patch as I think NWN is the property of Atari...
