The dowlnoadable patch is only for DA:O retail version. In case of digital download version, patch is supplied or automatically applied by the online store where you bought the software (like Steam).david.neufeld wrote...
The problem I'm having is I've got most the downlaodable content and Awakening installed but when I try to patch 1.04 it gives me the 'cant find Dargaon Age Orgins and closes patcher. I'm leary about uninstalling and re-installing because I don't want to lose the download stuff. Anyone have this issue?

I haven't made any changes to my system configuration (incl. hardware, drivers, etc.). The "version information" says: DAOrigins.exe v1.02, DAOriginsLauncher.exe v1.01 and DAOriginsConfig.exe v1.03. Apparently I have not installed patch v1.04 or whatever, but anyway my biggest question is WTF? Why am I unable to run it?
The game loads EXTREMELY slow and the only thing I see "ingame" is the dragon-age-kinda-mouse-pointer on a black screen.
That's it. That as far as I can get.
So, WTF?

- uninstall NVidia PhysX from Windows Add/Remove Program panel
- download and install Drive Sweeper
- launch this program and select "Analyse and clean" in the Home section on the left of the interface
- in the right hand list, check only NVIDIA - PhysX
- Click Analyse button at the bottom. Once the top list has been updated click Clean and confirm you want to clean the entries present in the list.
- Once the clean process is complete, close all application and reboot your computer
- reinstall PhysX_9.10.0513_SystemSoftware.msi from Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\mafia ii - public demo\\3rd folder.

Have you tried to launch the installer in compatibility mode?

It doesn't work so I'm still unable to play it.
I'll try the same procedure but with the Mafia PhysX this time although I see no point doing that 'couse it was like that in the first place.
Maybe if I update my ATi drivers to the latest? Which has to be ... 10.7? (I'm using 9.11 now)

I swear. Maybe Bioware should just not try to fix it anymore because every time they try they only make it worse!

JackM, sorry mate, unfortunately your solutions is not going to be my solution... The game just doesn't want to run. I might try downgrading or upgrading the video drivers and when everything is messed up ('couse eventually it will be) I'll just format C:\\
Anyway thanks for the help.
Cheers.

Well on everything high and 4xAA, Resolution 1440x900, framebuffer OFF i get in Ostagar about 25-29fps. Started human noble and in castle (cant remember name) i get like 115fps and when fighting starts i get 60-50fps and in big duel at end i get 28-30fps. Havent played past Lotharing coz i get EVEN there like 35fps constant which i think is weird. Reducing settings doesn't really help enough.
If you just wanted to know about performance overall its ok card. In resident evil 5 benchmark i put everything max, even AAx8 and minimum fps 45 which i think were pretty good.

On a lighter note, I have noticed a bug that is just hilarious! Occasionally my character will not straighten up after a fight. He then walks around in this fighting crouch....except, at that point, he looks like a two year old with a full diaper! LOL. Saving at that moment and then reloading cures the 'loaded diaper' syndrome.
You can also quickly solve this issue (without any save and reload needed) by activating a talent or a spell that force the character to draw his weapon(s). As there is currenlly no combat, the character will soon put back his weapon(s) and regain a normal posture.

Whats Ambient Occlusion and is there way to disable that? Maybe that might help me with my low fps in many places?
